The Founding Fathers would have owned Zcash. It's American values and the Bill of Rights encoded into money. 🇺🇸

People ask me why I'm always hating on a lot of new coins.
Here's why:
In graduate school, I had this friend, let's call him John. Got paired up with him for a group project in this cryptography class by sheer chance. All the Indian kids paired with the Indians, all the Chinese kids paired with the Chinese, so we kind of looked at each other and said "ok we're the only ones left ig".
He was an interesting guy, white dude from Iowa, walked around barefoot, lived in this hippie co-op off campus. My black friend would call him "barefoot 🥷".
One day while working with him, he turned around his laptop and showed me he had 600 BTC. At the time that was $600k. Not only that, but he got into the ETH ICO, got into XMR early too. He was legitimately a whale in all three.
We were both 24. This dude had already won at life before either of us had even started our careers.
Ironically, we were watching Zcash price action at the time. It was so cursed. We were both whaling on Monero back then, and we'd use Zcash as the punchline to jokes all the time.
Whenever we felt downbad, we'd say shit like "at least we're not Zcash holders lmao".
Insane to think that in 2026, I'm a Zcash maxi now. What a deranged future.
Cryptocurrency is an exercise in open-mindedness, but you can't be too open-minded otherwise you get turned out. That's kind of how life is ig.
Unfortunately, the same open-mindedness that made him a fortune ended up costing him everything.
He got greedy, started chasing the next big thing, and eventually rotated his holdings into EOS and Tezos.
Lost everything.
Not only that, but he started microdosing acid, which was all the tech bro rage at the time.
His story was basically that as a kid they put him on Ritalin, and he said that fried him. Then when he got to college he switched to weed and got addicted to that. He claimed acid was the final solution to his problems.
I would still get messages from him from time to time on Signal. Literally just nonsensical garbage. Sometimes it was legitimately combinations of numbers and letters, like he was sending me some encrypted message.
The cryptography class was late 2016 to early 2017. I saw him once more in late 2021, sitting on his laptop at a Chipotle.
He still seemed fried from the acid. His cadence when speaking was very strange, lots of pauses in weird places. It was genuinely unsettling seeing him like that, almost five years later and he still seemed completely out of it.
Super sad.
I haven't heard from him in a long time now. No more garbled Signal messages, can't find any trace of him online.
I'm genuinely worried he might be dead.
The saddest part is that I owe this guy a lot.
He's the reason I dumped my entire life savings at the time into ETH at the $4–$7 range.
I genuinely have no idea where I'd be today if I hadn't met him.
The same guy who helped change my life ended up losing everything chasing the next big thing.
So when people ask why I'm so skeptical of new coins that I view as scams, this is why.
I've legitimately seen them ruin lives.
So much potential lost.
Miss him.

Guns and Zcash are all you need. 🇺🇸
one of the luckiest things in ZEC's journey has been the constant crashing out by cheerleaders of larger coins
if you hold an asset 100x bigger but can't stop lashing out on a so-called memecoin this often
it suggests tremendous fear & insecurity of one's own future

NEW EPISODE - Cypherpunk Owns $500M of Zcash and 18% of Its Hashrate
@cypherpunk holds nearly $500M in $ZEC, controls ~18% of its mining hashrate, and has its sights set on 5% of the total supply.
@will__mcevoy, CIO of Cypherpunk Technologies, joins @TrustlessState to unpack the company's massive Zcash bet and why AI could make financial privacy more important than ever. They dive into Zcash's explosive comeback, why its mining economics resemble Bitcoin's early gold rush, and the strategy behind accumulating and holding ZEC.

The encrypted cash of individuals worldwide ⓩ 🌏
Balaji predicts Zcash will become the encrypted cash of individuals worldwide while Bitcoin serves as the reserve asset of Western institutions
“Look, I love Bitcoin and I think Bitcoin is going to continue to have a role because its transparency means governments can prove they hold Bitcoin”
“They can't prove whether they hold gold, physical gold. You know, a video of Fort Knox would not be trusted but you can prove whether you hold Bitcoin”
“Bitcoin continues as a transparent asset, the reserve asset of Western institutions. But Zcash I think becomes the encrypted cash of individuals around the world”

Wow.
Yeah, bullish $ZEC
It's like these fucking retards didn't realize cash already exists.
And they didn't get the memo that the reason why cryptocurrency exists is so we don't have to hold shitty fiat currencies.

Microsoft Central Bank Zero Knowledge Proof ZKP Currency
Central Bank Digital Currencies face a brutal trilemma: how do you guarantee user privacy, verify the entire banking system isn’t faking balances, and eliminate single points of failure for cyberattacks?
A Microsoft patent from Srinath Setty et al. proposes a solution: zkCBDC.
Today, CBDCs are stuck between two extremes:
* Centralized databases: Good for privacy from the public, but create massive central targets for hackers and lack independent verification.
* Public blockchains: Decentralized and transparent, but expose transaction histories to anyone watching.
Enter Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs).
In Microsoft’s design, commercial banks act as Provers.
When you make a transaction, your bank processes it internally off-chain. The bank then:
* Hashes the transaction amounts (or batches them together).
* Generates a succinct zero-knowledge proof confirming: "We followed the rules, money wasn't created out of thin air, and balances check out."
The Blockchain acts as the Verifier.
The smart contract on-chain holds only a cryptographic commitment (a root hash) of each bank's state—not customer identities, account balances, or purchase details.
When the bank submits the ZK proof + transaction hash, the smart contract verifies it mathematically in milliseconds.
Who runs the network?
The nodes verifying these proofs are the Central Bank and financial regulators.
They can mathematically guarantee system-wide solvency, prevent double-spending, and audit the entire economy in real time—without ever seeing who bought what at a retail level.
What about moving money between different banks?
The patent uses a Two-Phase Commit Protocol:
* Phase 1: The sending bank processes the debit, submits its ZKP, and locks the state on-chain.
* Phase 2: Once committed, the receiving bank submits its own ZKP to claim and credit the funds.
Zero reconciliation lag, zero counterparty exposure.
It even tackles cross-border FX and bond settlements through atomic Swaps:
* Banks route funds into temporary on-chain escrow/swap accounts.
* Both sides post ZK proofs of the locked assets.
* Once verified, the contract enforces a simultaneous burn-and-mint across both currencies. If either side fails, the whole trade rolls back.
The takeaway: Instead of forcing governments to choose between complete financial surveillance or total black-box banking, ZK roll-up architectures offer a third way.
Math proves the system is honest, while cryptography keeps private financial lives private.

🚨ZCASH WENT FROM $50 TO $1,300 AND IT’S STILL A FRACTION OF BITCOIN!
@santiagoroel on Crypto Insider with @cryptomanran says Zcash is top of mind. $50 to $1,300, and still a fraction of Bitcoin’s market cap. That’s the meta.
Could it be bigger than Bitcoin?
He says yes. He doesn’t think it overtakes Bitcoin’s market cap. He does think there’s a scenario where flows move out of $BTC and into $ZEC.

I think Justin Drake's latest alarmism/vagueposting is going to do a ton of damage in multiple ways. It's basically a huge self-own for their own advocacy work on quantum stuff.
Threats from quantum/AI are real, and teams throughout this industry are making considered decisions about how to respond to those risks in a practical way, and to help their users navigate the uncertainty.
Some of those teams have really good cryptographers with an excellent grasp on the decisions they can make, others have to take their cues from trusted experts. There are so many dimensions to optimize along! And due to the complexity involved, it's almost impossible to explain this stuff to non-cryptographers.
Experts have to be cognizant of all this, and of their responsibility to be levelheaded.
After the fog clears up and people learn from their cryptographer friends what is actually going on, they're going to discover this was (at best) an unintentional marketing stunt and a lot of trust will be lost. And nobody will really know what to do...
This is a shame, because they are directionally correct. It actually meant something when they sounded the alarm before. They've just gradually descended into unhinged predictions without feedback to discourage it.
Can anyone, I mean seriously anyone, justify this debacle? It permanently colors all the legitimate concerns/predictions about classical crypto going forward. By their own admission, there was no new information that drove this. I think Justin Drake should explain how he thought this was the right approach, even if he genuinely believed what he was saying.
Baffling.

While others are worrying about the viability of rotating transparent addresses, we're already solving linkability.

it took Zcash devs less than 24h to design against the recent fearmongering
in fact, Zcash will be resistant (on transparent side) by January
