The Crossing Company is hard at work in Alberta, installing electrical conduit beneath a waterway using one of our Heavy HDD Rigs.
Capable of 330,000 lbs of push or pull force, this rig will allow our crew to pass safely beneath the river in a single shot!
Stay tuned for more details on this project as we near completion.
Herrenknecht's E-Power Pipe® Technology is one of the newest advancements in the trenchless industry, and The Tunneling Company is incredibly excited to be the first to utilize it in North America.
As part of our work in Squamish, B.C., our crews used this innovative methodology to install a 24 inch pipeline beneath commercial and residential areas, navigating extensive existing underground utilities and challenging ground conditions.
E-Power's unique design features helped mitigate significant challenges on the project with its smaller diameter, relatively low fluid pressure, and significantly reduced risk of fluid release to surface.
The HDD Company recently kicked off a new project in Washington state!
Our onsite crew is currently in the process of setting up an HDD drill site, including perimeter sound barriers to reduce the impact on nearby residences.
More details on this project to come!
Whether you require trenchless construction services in a busy urban centre or the remote wilderness, The Crossing Group is up to the task!
This horizontal directional drilling site in Alberta is just one of our many projects across North America, spanning a variety of unique terrains, environments, and technical challenges.
There's nothing better than using the latest and greatest technology!
The Digitrak Ares has become a key piece of locating equipment for The Crossing Company, ensuring the accuracy and precision of our horizontal directional drilling crossings.
No matter the obstacle, we pride ourselves in finding the most efficient path around it.
This photo features a bundle of 12-inch, 6-inch, and 4-inch pipelines, which were successfully installed through a single borehole beneath a creek to a total length of 550 meters. Our onsite crew used a light HDD rig to provide a low-disturbance installation with minimal impact on the local aquatic ecosystem 🐟

Our expansive fleet of horizontal directional drilling rigs ensures that we always have the right equipment to complete your HDD installation.
Whether a project is in northern Canada or the southern United States, The Crossing Company and The HDD Company have rigs suitable for a range of crossing lengths, space limitations, and ground conditions — all maintained to the highest operational and safety standards.
Our team at The Trenchless Company has completed successful Direct Pipe® installations for clients all across North America.
This versatile technology is perfect for completing one-pass installations with a high degree of steering accuracy, but it's essential to have an experienced crew to ensure the job gets done safely and efficiently. We're proud to be recognized as a leader in the Direct Pipe® industry, thanks to the incredible team members who have proven their skill and reliability with each new project they take on.
As part of an ongoing trenchless project in British Columbia, The Tunneling Company is utilizing Herrenknecht's E-Power Pipe® installation methods to ensure efficient and safe installations.
This technology has helped minimize disruption to local residents, businesses, and surrounding infrastructure while our crews work within critical transportation corridors and urban areas.
Stay tuned for more information on this exciting project!
The Crossing Company utilizes Light HDD Rigs for projects with confined access or work areas.
These maneuverable rigs feature smaller drill pads, and are most commonly used to complete installations up to 1 km long!
If a roadway encounters drainage issues, The Tunneling Company can install culverts beneath the infrastructure with minimal disruptions to local traffic.
In this photo, our DTH Hammer is completing an installation within a small footprint in the middle of a major highway, allowing vehicles to continuously and safely pass through the area!
What a view from the office!
We're incredibly lucky to complete trenchless projects in beautiful locations across the continent, like this remote site in northern Alberta.
Southward bound!
Our team in Nisku is preparing to load several mud pumps to support upcoming Horizontal Directional Drilling operations in the United States. It's always exciting to see The Crossing Company's fleet on the move to overcome new trenchless challenges!
From fibre optic cable landings to coastal utility installations, The HDD Company's shore approach solutions are designed to minimize impacts on aquatic environments 🌊
Our crews are experienced in the unique demands of fronthaul and backhaul construction, ensuring that even the most challenging shore approach can proceed on-schedule while meeting rigorous safety standards.
While installing 335 m (1100 ft) of HDPE conduit in Rhode Island, The Crossing Company had to work within a limited workspace due to surrounding roadways and infrastructure.
Despite this small footprint, our crew was able to arrange the onsite equipment — including a light HDD rig with a mud motor and reclaimer — to accommodate the space while capably drilling through very hard ground conditions.
Incredible work from everyone involved!
