No he didn't, he offered a lie as an excuse. His PR team are stupid and at this point I don't think he has full control of his "personal" X account.

According to that the game will be over 150gb right? 100 play disk and 50GB data disk. 2 discs of 100GB must be expensive , they never released 2 dual layer discs before. So it was keeping the game under 150 or going with the download shit

Why do I care if it's expensive for them, when I'm forking £100 a game, and getting less than I got with the two previous games? We are not talking about ram chips here. The cost of making discs has not gone up in the same way as the other components.

Yeah he is obviously coming up with bullshit excuses and people want to dickride. Same happens with Nomura with Kingdom Hearts. They don't realize they're giving excuses for business decisions. If Part 1 and 2 are full on disc so should 3 be. It's not favorable to consumers.

The only thing they are compromising is consumer satisfaction over greed. They likely support the eradication of physical media just like Sony, but much like the gaming industry has done for years, they want to remove discs one tiny step at a time, and hope we don't notice.

His options are probably charge more for the game, lose some profit, or reduce quality and fidelity like he said. This is being released on Xbox now which holds half as much data as PlayStation. So 3 discs on PlayStation is equally to 5-6 on Xbox. That's a much bigger cost.

Excuses. The cost of placing the games on discs is very much covered by how expensive games are now, it shouldn't even be up for debate. They are bringing out a physical game, the game should be all on the discs. We shouldn't need an internet connection to play the game.

Switch 2 version of this game is sitting at 130 Gb. It's likely bigger than Rebirth, and they could maybe go with three discs, but that would increase the production cost, or they could have gone with the Rebirth route and reduced texture, unique details, animation, and everything else. At the end of the day, the demo's quality will decide if they were telling the truth or not.

The quality has never been in question. This was an excuse to simply not give what we want, to save some money, but ultimately we should be able to insert a disc, install a game and play it offline. This shouldn't be optional.

If he has and he is the one making those posts then he might win the "Most Disconnected Director" award

Alternatively, I think he has his hands tied being a director in Square Enix 😬

He has his hand tied, because he can't make these decisions. They knew this would annoy the gamers who pay for the discs.

I’m so sick of Hamaguchi, every time the dude opens his mouth he says something absolutely asinine or contradicts not only himself but like…the spirit of the series? In some way?
