this was something done to us almost flippantly. I went back and read the 1991 "new faces in the crowd" report about Canada and it's like: there's not really any economic benefit but it will make the country more "interesting"

On a individual level the “grad job crisis” is fixable. It is a drudgery but you need to network more and send out an ungodly number of applications. However on a societal level it is ruinous. Elite overproduction is the number 1 how to get a political crisis button.
