Here's the first release of the Xbox 360 Peer Pressure softmod. Blog post will be out in a few weeks with all the technical details. Barring any critical bugs I'll be "hibernating" for the next 2 months to recoup my sanity from working on this project github.com/grimdoomer/Xbox36…

Windows 8 Fluidity, even in the previews, never gets old
wish modern software would always be this fluid, the animations really work well in that regard

After 4 years of effort, I'm happy to announce that one of the final secrets of the PS2 has been broken wide open!
It's been a long process of decapping, optical dumping, and now at last a software solution.
Thank you Libby for finding the exploit from our dirty optical dumps!

“Your computer is not a fast PDP-11 lol!!”
The idea that, because there are many abstraction layers between C and hardware, and there are many abstraction layers between Python and hardware, that therefore a C programmer’s understanding of a computer is roughly equivalent of a Python programmer’s understanding, is so absurd that it could’ve only been invented by the worst kind of midwit wordcel who spends more time chortling on Reddit / HackerNews than programming.

Claiming that other ISAs are "legacy" when those other ISAs have 100% marketshare (literally) on desktop, laptop _and_ server APs is truly something to behold
wait at least until there's somewhat of a foothold before claiming _that_

ALT RISC-V is just cheaper! ▪ RISC-V enables competition • Yes, cheaper can be one consequence of competition, removing monopoly tax (lower cost is not a bad thing) • But competition also drives other metrics: performance, power, features ▪ RISC-V provides freedom to innovate but with support from a standard software stack • Not possible with legacy ISAs
welcome back UIDEntryHeapXxxLock
(not #ifdef'ed out in retail fw btw; right is 3.65 CEX)
"what if every process was a child of explorer.exe"
Replying to @SheriefFYI
If they were smart they would have made all processes children of explorer.exe such that there are no other programs, only explorer.exe.
If they had fork() they could have even crammed Office and a bunch of other launcher caches in there for the ultimate Microsoft experience

Welcome back PlayStation TV!
It exists as a devkit. TV Only Switch 2.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
These boxes are not standalone "TV Only" versions of the Nintendo Switch 2. According to FCC filings and developer documentation, these are interface, dock, and relay boxes used by developers for debugging and testing when connected to a main dev kit. lucklessheaven.com/nintendo-switc… gonintendo.com/contents/52737…
"...but it was the PSP2?"
Shawn Layden reflects on the PS Vita: "Instead of the Vita we should've made PSP2. For PSP2 we just wanted one more stick."
"The biggest strategic mistake was propriety memory sticks"
He also mentions how OLED and Back Touch were features that weren't worth the added cost

"fixed" thanks to issuetracker.google.com/issu… comment #16
if you enable Wi-Fi but NOT Locations (which hey, was exactly the configuration I was in since that's a BACKUP PHONE that sits at home all day), some system thread just kills itself and launcher won't work
(This is unfortunately not sufficient in projects with lots of configuration options, each with associated ifdef blocks)
Not necessarily fan of functional programming, but Python map+filter is surprisingly pleasing to write compared to plain foreach loops
