🚨 Phishing Alert: Sophisticated X Account Takeover Campaign We’ve just learned from our partner @noctocode about a highly targeted phishing campaign impersonating @X’s copyright violation appeal system. This attack is highly convincing and uses X-style UI and timing to bypass suspicion. Attack methodology: 🔸 Victims receive emails claiming copyright violations with a 48-hour appeal window 🔸The email directs users to a malicious website (e.g., infringements-x[.]com/copyright/[username]) designed to look exactly like an official X login or appeal page 🔸 The fake page prompts the user for their X password and 2FA code. In @noctocode's case, it specifically asked for a code sent via email, bypassing potentially more secure app-based 2FA methods 🔸Once the credentials (password + email 2FA code) are entered, the attackers immediately log in, change the account password, and potentially alter recovery email/phone numbers or enable their own 2FA, locking the legitimate user out @noctocode received official password change notifications at the same time the fake form was submitted. ⚠️ Do NOT enter credentials or 2FA codes from links in emails.
