After working with @bluehost and @bluehostsupport I can pretty confidently say that this hosting company is a waste of your time.

These 14 turned up the most (so they will make for great reading over the holidays):🧵

I've always wondered how @37signals builds new products, where there's no way the work will fit into a six-week cycle.
So I went deep with @jasonfried about the entire year-long process of building the new HEY Calendar 🗓️

Six months ago, NPR left Twitter. The numbers confirm what many of us have long suspected — that Twitter wasn’t worth the effort, at least in terms of traffic, writes @gbullard

Five years ago this month, I moved away from Iowa for the first time to go to school at Stanford. I'd been to California only once before, when I was 8. Today I live in Austin.
This is a tweet about my abiding love for the place where I grew up, and why I will go back:
IOWA
Earlier this month a few friends from Stanford visited me at my farm in Southeast Iowa. We discussed a key part of my life that differed from the experience of most kids at Stanford: what is it like to grow up in a place that isn't rich or globalized?
The "rich" kids I knew in school had dentists as parents. Most couldn't pay the tuition at Stanford. There are no hedge funds or large investment banks. Iowa has *1* billionaire. A 6-figure income is a lot in Iowa.
And to be sure, there are lots of good jobs with 2 world-class research universities, a few defense contractor branches, a national laboratory, and a nice state capital in Des Moines. But if you're looking to really make many millions or billions, Iowa wouldn't be the first place to try.
But my firm belief is that Iowa is rich in a way that wouldn't be fully understood in New York or the Bay Area, where tens of thousands of extremely wealthy people reside.
The economic incentives are against it. People are moving to where it's warm all year long. It gets below 0 degrees in Iowa during the winter. Our beaches are at lakes. Our ski hills are... hills. Most parts of rural America are emptying out, regardless of weather. The cities are where the action is.
And yet... Iowa has a richness of spirit. It is a place where families can build good lives. It is a place where the egalitarian spirit in which our republic was founded is alive. It is a place where people are reliable, and friendly, and nobody is too important to do a favor for a friend.
The civic spirit of America is in Iowa. There are an unbelievable number of Iowans in major institutions across the world. Many will come back to the land that made them - including me.
It is a place of dreams. I am building one such dream on my farm. And every day that I have spent away from Iowa since 2018, when I left home, I have missed it.
None of this is to discount the other great places of our country. I love California. I love Texas. I am so grateful for the time I can spend in each. Every time I go back to California I am filled with an incredible feeling.
But home is home. And my deepest yearning is to build my own world in the place that made me.
And I will.
