Our mission is to engage in #reconciliation that will allow #Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal #caregivers to understand that #child welfare will end.

Friday was the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is all too easy for us to look away from our past, so I am deeply grateful to @Creating_Hope_ and Root For Trees @YEGParks for making space to reflect and recommit to the important work of reconciliation. #NDTR

Nurses carrying in Moderna vaccines to the remote Indigenous community of Ahousat. The community honoured them with ceremony today before they vaccinated several members of the community. Chief Louie says it was an emotional experience, knowing Elders will be protected.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: students are struggling. Tuition at @UAlberta is already set to rise 25% by 2023, with an unclear regulatory path beyond that. On top of that, many students can't work during this pandemic, and mental health is taking a hit #abpse #ableg
"Joel Agarwal, president of the #UASU, said in an email the pandemic continues to create challenges for students who struggle with high tuition." Read more from your @uasupresident via the @edmontonjournal: edmontonjournal.com/news/loc…

Kinanâskomitin (thank-you) @JanisIrwin & @FeehanRichard for giving our grandparents, our Kukoms & Mushums a voice. Your advocacy & strength is deeply felt. My grandmother who is a survivor of the terrible policy of genocide in her residential school must not be forgotten. – at Edmonton, Alberta
The mass kidnapping, abuse, and murder of Indigenous children in residential schools was a genocide. The murder and disappearance of Indigenous women and girls in Canada is a genocide. We are calling on the UCP to stop denying the hard truths of our history. #ableg #MMIWG2S

The number of indigenous children in care increased by 6% from April to June 2020. The 2018 Ministerial Panel on Child Intervention laid out a detailed action plan to address this. Minister @rebeccakschulz must provide an update on this work. #ableg

We cant help but credit ourselves for forcing @CityofEdmonton to face houselessness this season. They are accountable to the public. A 24/7 shelter does not fix the problem, and it will not be enough. However, Pekiwewin community members deserve more this winter.
