I sold almost everything I owned just to pay off debts, most of which I never even personally benefited from.
For the past two years, I had to juggle multiple jobs, sacrifice sleep, and push myself beyond my limits just to keep up with financial obligations that weren't entirely mine to begin with.
And the cost was more than financial. It was emotionally exhausting, mentally draining, and physically demanding. There were days when working harder didn't necessarily mean moving forward.
Sometimes, it simply meant surviving another month.
I've also come to realize that losing material things doesn't necessarily mean losing progress. Sometimes, rebuilding requires letting go of everything you've accumulated just to regain control of your life.
Next month, I start again.
With fewer possessions, harder lessons, clearer priorities, and hopefully, wiser decisions.
I'm not starting from zero. I'm starting from experience.
It's never too late to rebuild. And this time, I hope to build a life where I'm not just working to survive, but actually living.
Yes, racism is real.
Even as Asians, we experience it in different ways, from job offers to how people judge our abilities before they even know us.
It’s sad that some feel they need a certain “face” just to be taken seriously.
But I still choose to believe there are good people out there who see talent beyond race, accent, or nationality.
The world isn't perfect, but I still believe there’s good in the universe.
And that gives me hope.
Putting obvious racism aside, there is a deep-rooted issue here
The fact that Arc died after the livestream shows exactly why so many foreign teams will hire a white guy as the "face" of the company w/ fake CEO title.
Many of your favourite protocols have an entire dev team who cannot speak English.
Talent is talent, and its sad teams are forced to play these games just to get taken seriously.
Well...
Hardware wallets can fail.
Seed phrases can be exposed or lost.
One wrong wallet approval can wipe out years of savings.
Bridges get hacked. Scams are everywhere.
Somehow...we're expected to think like cybersecurity experts just to safely hold our own assets.
Crypto needs safer custody, simpler user experiences, stronger accountability when things go wrong, and real opportunities that make the risks worth taking again.
I still believe in this space. I just hope that all the pain, patience, and conviction so many of us have endured will eventually be rewarded. 🙌
$1.6 million dollars in Bitcoin was drained from my account on July 29th in the Cold Card wallet hack.
My Bitcoin was in cold storage. My keys were on a ColdCard device kept in a safety deposit box that had never been connected to the internet.
This part's nerdy, but here's what happened:
Hackers discovered a vulnerability in the part of the hardware wallet code used to create seed phrases.
This allowed them to use AI to brute force guessing seed phrases.
I was at our cottage and heard about the hack today.
"No way this affects me." I thought.
I logged into Wasabi––software that lets me view my bitcoin wallets online.
Right away I saw lines of red transaction–withdrawals–and I knew.
From 9:36pm - 9:43pm on July 29th, every wallet I had had been emptied.
18.25245043 btc gone. That's just over $1.6 million dollars CAD.
Perhaps the hardest part about this is that I did everything right.
I never shared my seed phrase with anybody. My devices never touched the internet. Everything was kept in multiple safes and safety deposit boxes.
None of it mattered. All because the hardware that created the seed phrase originally had one line in their code from 2021 that had a vulnerability.
I'm filing a police report and a report with the Ontario Securities Commission. But I don't expect to recoup anything.
A part of me is trying to make sense of what just happened. Or try to figure out a lesson in it. I'm struggling. $1.6 million is a staggering amount of money to have stolen.
I guess all that I can think about right now is that I'm so damn happy that I'm an entrepreneur and that my earning potential is under my control. Mark my damn words. I'll recover.
Makinig at Matuto!

Just back from the Philippines. One of the most exciting digital asset markets in SEA right now, jumping to 4th globally in TRM Labs' Country Crypto Adoption Index.
Their regulators get it. Collaborative, forward-thinking, focused on outcomes: consumer protection, innovation, growth. Rare combo.
Met great people at the Department of Finance including Secretary Frederick Go, the SEC’s Chairman Francis Lim, and the BlockShoals team. Real conversations about where the industry is heading.
Big one: the SEC's PhiliFintech Innovation Office just gave BlockShoals in-principle approval under StratBox. This is what good regulation looks like. Build pathways, not walls. Programs like that signal that the Philippines is serious. Confidence attracts capital. Capital funds innovation. Flywheel starts here.
Bullish on the Philippines. And crypto - buying the dip. More soon. 🇵🇭

Our Viction PH SMM, Creatine, recently conducted a short seminar on Blockchain Technology for Engineering students of the University of the Cordilleras
The session covered:
• History of blockchain
• How blockchain works
• Real-world use cases
• Current PH and global market trends
At Viction PH, we believe adoption starts with education. IRL events like this help future builders and Victionaries understand what they’re truly getting into...not just the hype, but the technology, purpose, and opportunities behind it.
We want people in Web3 to not only enjoy the space, but also be informed, aware, and ready to build 🤖
And don’t miss out on the Vanguard Program.

Cedra’s Monthly Overview
We’ve gathered everything most interesting that’s happened at Cedra recently 👇
The evolution has arrived.
Rivellum, the intent-centric Layer 1 for guaranteed outcomes, is now live in very very early beta testnet (temporarily for limited testing).
The protocol replaces transactions with intents and constraints. It resolves them deterministically — or rejects them cleanly before execution.
No mempool. No ordering games. No contract custody.
