Michael Oliver will not officiate in the Premier League this weekend. Oliver recently celebrated the three year anniversary of his trip to the UAE - one paid for by City's owners, to referee in a league with direct ties to them. That is a rather odd coincidence, isn't it?

Just a friendly reminder that Michael Oliver and other Premier League refs were allowed to pop over to the UAE referee a few games and pick up undisclosed payments. I guess nothing to see here @premierleague Completely fookin normal. 👀

From Etihad Airways 60-page submission to John Kerry, US Department Secretary of State, Antony Foxx, US Department of Transportation Secretary and Penny Pritzker, US Department of Commerce Secretary on May 31, 2015

It’s honestly laughable if it wasn’t so serious Do we think Man United are emailing adidas at the end of every season telling them exactly how much money they need to pay the club for player and manager bonuses etc? Or is the sponsorship value agreed at the beginning of the agreement and then it’s up to the club to work within that value agreed?
The panel referred to Manchester City suddenly owing £20m at the end of the 2012-13 season, which corresponds, according to those familiar with the case, to a payout owed to then-manager Roberto Mancini and his staff, who had been sacked at the end of the season following the FA Cup final defeat by Wigan Athletic. Had the money been paid immediately, City would have been “£9.9m ‘short’ of complying with UEFA FFP for that season”, the panel said. The tribunal reported that “in a matter of days, a number of modified sponsor agreements were generated… to increase recorded fees, pay bonuses for events that had already taken place, and to pay for a U.S. tour”, thereby plugging the shortfall. City also asked sponsors to pay out bonuses for the FA Cup final as if they had won the match — rather than being defeated by the minnows thanks to Ben Watson’s injury-time header — according to people with knowledge of proceedings. The Premier League also raised the example of Sergio Aguero’s late, final-day winner against Queens Park Rangers in 2012, which secured City’s first Premier League title. That goal unlocked a number of bonuses within the squad which, if it had not been for the club’s operation of their disguised funding scheme, would have seen City exceed PSR for that season. 📝 @jwhitey98 nyti.ms/4z5sgoL

Hello @etihad, I’ve just been quoted £4000 for return flights to Abu Dhabi. Can you please clarify if I need to pay the full amount? Or do I pay £115 and the Abu Dhabi Government pays the rest?

Curiouser and curiouser As @DamianHastie points out, in 2015 the US depts of Commerce, State + Transport launched an inquiry into whether Etihad were receiving govt subsidies Etihad statement to commission was: "The assertion that the Abu Dhabi government paid for Etihad's sponsorship of English Premier League football club Manchester City is … false. In 2011, Etihad and Manchester City entered into a 10-year sponsorship agreement, which included naming rights for Manchester City's stadium. Etihad funded this sponsorship from its own liquidity’

Amazingly on skyports the main story is still the scare story on kicking city out. The treasury story is buried down 5th on the list, doesn't match their agenda i guess..... #BROWNENVELOPES

The Treasury Committee have written to the chief executive of HM Revenue and Customs to ask about the tax implications of the Premier League’s investigation into Manchester City. HMRC could investigate whether City paid the right amount of tax and national insurance during the nine seasons they have been found guilty of financial rule breaches.

Etihad Airways suing the Premier League is comedy. 1.Etihad and Man City are owned by the same people. The claim they had no idea about this for eight years is absurd. 2.The Premier League has no duty to produce witnesses for City. That’s City’s problem. 3.Etihad were in court because they have the same ownership group. 4. City can’t sue the league themselves after being proven GUILTY, so they’re using a related entity to try and BULLY EPL & get the case thrown out. 5.Lawfare and political pressure are the only remaining options for Man City, ironic after 18 years of insisting they aren’t state-owned that is this the tactic!

‘None of Manchester Life’s homes are affordable, and the developer does not pay any subsidies for local amenities, known as section 106 payments. ‘Rivals say the partnership has created an uneven playing field for developing the lucrative east Manchester corridor next to the Etihad. “This is a sweetheart deal between the council and Abu Dhabi,” said one. “They get the land without any fair competition process, they can build apartment blocks, and when the blocks start earning millions the council gets no rental income. They don’t even have to make section 106 payments, like lots of other developers. The whole thing stinks.” ‘Manchester Life was launched with a promise “to rebalance the relationship between landlord and tenant to one of equals”. Just a year after the opening of a rental apartment block in Smiths Yard, residents received section 21 eviction notices. These allow landlords to evict tenants without giving a reason, even if the rent has been paid on time and the property kept in good condition.’ thetimes.com/business/articl…
