A big part of center-leftism is people thinking they are good at telling who is trustworthy based on tone, mannerisms, diction, titles, and prestige. So you can show them examples like this, and they’ll say “but the people who went after Trump were good, serious people just upholding the law, while the investigation into Omar is clearly political persecution.”
The issue is that the “good person signs” libs rely on are very simple and easy to fake, and the majority of people they trust have indeed just learned this as a parlor trick, consciously or unconsciously. Whether someone speaks in soothing NPR-ese does not actually tell you whether they are honest or know what they’re talking about, and in fact in the modern day probably anticorrelates with trustworthiness.

You execute criminals publicly to show evil men that righteous men are not afraid to use overwhelming force to avenge and protect the innocent
Cowardly letting them perpetuate violence and then hide in the shadows while the victims get forgotten is not moral. Its weak

If the urban ghettos liberalism created were so desirable, liberals would live there - but they don't. If the diverse schools it created were so sought after, they would send their children there, but they don't. If the countries that constitute such locales were such a delight, liberals would holiday there - but they don't.
Liberalism is mewling about inequality and appealing to your better nature even as they pull the ladder up behind them and hector you to separate your papers and plastics. Liberalism is the law of the jungle in a rainbow lanyard.
No wonder they all have such crazy eyes, you don't have to be crazy to believe in it - but it helps.

For migrants there is an inverse relationship between how likely English people are to politely agree you are English and how nice your home country is as a holiday destination. Hierarchy is if you are Somali of course you are English but if you are French come on no you aren’t
“I don’t want to explain to my son, when we’re watching our brilliant England team play football, that some people don’t think our black players are English”
This was a powerful rejection from Kemi of the identity politics and racial division Reform are trying to whip up.
Their brand of grievance politics is not what Britain needs.

One of the reasons the ‘Yookay Aesthetics’ meme was so polarising was because as important as the second order effects immigration has on economics, politics and public culture are, demographic change - the core issue - is basically either something you care about or don’t. It’s very difficult to talk someone who doesn’t care about this into caring, these changes feel like non-sequitur interpolations to you or they don’t or they do a bit but not so much you become hugely politicised over it. Look at a ‘Yookay’ image and you project your own feelings onto it
Can take a person like below, Tim Stanley, and have him walk through Luton or Bradford. Probably he is not going to care about changes there versus historical norms. This is a relatively common attitude and ‘Nobodycaresanymore-ism’ is underappreciated as a political force in a 21st century hyper-modern globalised politics in this way
When you criticise Stanley for saying “yes I love Yookayification” as he essentially does here (which is rhetorically a relatively new step for immigration defenders) you have to realise whatever critique you attempt of him it is still going to be close to impossible to ever make this kind of person care. Instead, he just gets confused by you and you just get confused by him
It is difficult to say exactly how big these different constituencies are
I do think there is merit to the first half of this comic. Most people have been backed into a corner of only being against "illegal immigration", and if those people were being honest, then providing legal routes would solve the problem.

ALT A four-panel comic strip features a conversation between two characters discussing immigration reform. The left character expresses concern about illegal immigration, prompting the right character to suggest a pathway to legalization, holding a paper labeled "Amnesty." However, the first character dismisses this humane approach, stating a desire to inflict harm instead. The comic uses a simple cartoon style and reflects on the contradictions in attitudes toward immigration.
Had a great day out, met some lovely people as well.

They're doing to English ethnicity what they did to womanhood. Pretending that unless you have a PHD in DNA you can't have an opinion. That because nation states are mixtures of ethnic groups that intermarried thousands of years ago, you cannot make any claims to your land and must accept infinity immigration from hostile, alien clans, forever.
"What's an Englishman" is the new "What's a woman" and the fact that the Tories are pushing this rhetoric tells you all you need to know about them.
While it's not as black and white as sex, nearly all of us know where our grandparents came from. If they were living in England before 1945 you can be 99% sure they're British or from a nearly identical ad-mixture of culturally similar tribes.
Don't even debate with them. It's a tactic designed to deny you your rights. That which cannot be defined in law cannot be defended in law.
It's not acceptable for people who have 0 English ancestors to claim to be English. This is genocidal, coloniser talk. The only people who make such claims are engaging in bad faith. This rhetorical slight of hand is intended to create two class of English men: cis English and trans English. Why not ask women how consenting to become a sub-sect of their own sex worked out for them?
You don't need to let them box you into their ethno-Nationalist box. It doesn't make you a Nazi because you think that the English exist. It does not follow that anybody who isn't English should be stripped of their rights and deported. That the English must remain racially pure and that people with mixed heritage are mongrels or racially inferior outcasts.
Does this feel familiar? Like TRAs who pretend women aksing men to stop wanking in the ladies are committing a literal trans genocide.
But to pretend that culture exists free floating from ethnicity and that we're all blank slate automotons is patently ridiculous. Just look at the ongoing animosity shown to the English by our British compatriots. They seem to loath us even though we have shared this land for thousands of years. Romani gypsies immigrated out of India nearly 1000 years ago, have they integrated into any European nation?
What I fear more than anything is that we have created the social conditions for a hundred year civil war in Europe. This is an unprecedented social experiment and we have no idea what the outcome will be
But can we have any kind of public debate about this? Can the people who already live here say - stop, we don't want this? Our leaders do not recognise any tangible differences between us and them. Now they are even trying to gaslight us that actually, the English don't exist and only a Nazi would think they do.
I had a premonition of this during the debate about the difference between British and English and the notion that one was a civic category tied to citizenship and the other an ethnicity. It reminded me of debates around 2017 where women were told to cede the word woman to men. Because woman was a "social" category and female the biological category we should use female and let men have the word woman. But what happened when women budged up and gave men the word woman? The pushed forward and demanded they be referred to as biological females.
We gave them British and accepted that anybody who came to these lands and was granted citizenship by the state could become a member of the English, or Scottish or Welsh tribe. That you can come from anywhere in the world and be British.
But a few months later they come for English using the exact same logic as TRAs who say "if we can be women why can't we be female?"
If you give them an inch they will take a mile. And then Luton, Birmingham and Bradford. Right now it feels like for every Frank Bruno there are ten more Jihadi al-Shamies. There is a kind of body horror for the English when the state insists those who want to annihilate everything about us are actually us. If you're a terf you should have felt this all before.
