4/5 Prey were significantly deeper when whales were present. Max acoustic prey detection avg depth was 84m deep when whales were present versus 60m when absent. This suggests that humpback whales in southern BC predominantly forage deep underwater.

5/5 Detailed information on prey features in the areas targeted by humpback whales will improve predictions of humpback foraging requirements, and in addressing the broader question of how humpback whales influence prey population dynamics in BC (e.g., herring).
