Picking a strike? Delta is an estimate, not a promise.
Hypothetical: stock $50, cost $48, 30-day calls
$50: delta 0.53, $1.80
$52: delta 0.35, $0.98
$54: delta 0.21, $0.48

Covered calls in earnings week:
1. Expires after the report? That's gap risk.
2. Premium not worth the capped upside? Skip a week.
3. Still selling? Sell further out.
4. Near max profit? Close before the report.

1% in 7 days isn't 1% in 45 days.
Annualized = premium ÷ capital × 365 ÷ days
Hypothetical, $50 on $5,000 (1.0%):
7 days: 52.1%
45 days: 8.1%

Two credit spreads. Both collect $0.40.
Same trade? Not even close. 🧵
Neither is automatically "better": strike distance, odds and duration differ too. But if you only log the credit, you can't compare them at all.
We show credit, max risk, ROC and duration on every structure:

Stock dropped and your short call already captured most of its value. Now what?
A common approach:
- Buy it back (many use ~70% of max profit)
- Leave shares uncovered for now
- Wait for a real rebound, then sell above cost basis

3 numbers before selling a covered call.
Hypothetical: 100 sh at $50, sell the $55 call for $1.20.
Premium yield: $120 ÷ $5,000 = 2.4%
Return if assigned: ($120 + $500) ÷ $5,000 = 12.4%
Break-even: ($5,000 − $120) ÷ 100 = $48.80
Example only.

Short call is in the money near expiration. Roll it, or let the shares get called away?
5 questions a lot of covered-call sellers run through first 🧵
3. Does the only credit need a lower strike? Rolling down just to collect more caps your upside below where you'd be happy to sell.
4. Is the strike above your true average cost, net of premiums collected? If not, assignment locks in a stock loss.
5. Did your break-even suddenly jump? After rolls, assignments or partial lots, that's often a data/basis issue, not a real change.
Rules of thumb, not advice. How we keep rolls on one structure:
