Counterparty tooling getting stronger! 🧛♂️🦇
We are revamping @CasaTookan. Your collectible wallet designed for Bitcoin/ @CounterpartyXCP / EVM Web3 browsing.
With better EVM compatibility, wallet import, and more.
What is the one feature you would like to have on Day 1 ?
12+ years and counting!
. @CounterpartyXCP shipped user-issued assets in 2014.
No foundation, no token sale, no roadmap. Just a protocol that kept working.
Most things launched since have not lasted a cycle.
All for me? 🥹❤️

Imagine burning 2,130 BTC in 2014 so that in 2026 the whole thing could have a $9M market cap.
The oldest asset-issuance layer on Bitcoin. Proof-of-burn genesis. Rare Pepe's home. Home of the first NFTs before "NFT" existed. Market cap: less than a Miami condo.
Never has so much history cost so little. 🔥🐸

What if your great grandfather could bust a kickflip and land bolts?
That’s pools and launchpads on Counterparty. $XCP
Seems fun! 👀🚀
xcp.fun is soft-launching on Bitcoin! A new token launchpad, powered by @CounterpartyXCP. All-or-nothing mints, liquidity locked, no platform custody. And if the launch doesn't graduate, your XCP are _automatically_ refunded. Join the fun now!
Interesting organization the community is doing with Historic Counterparty Ownerships and Subassets!

Clicking on an address or name takes you to that person's collection. Here's @jdogresorg's for example, owner of 3% of all Ownerships.

4/ Counterparty Proof-of-Burn — the canonical case
The Counterparty address deserves a closer look because it is the first major use of a burn address as a Layer 2 launch mechanism. The functional flow operates in three steps:
— Step 1 — User Portal: the owner possesses BTC and intends to acquire CounterParty native tokens (XCP).
— Step 2 — Bitcoin Mainnet Transaction: transaction details are broadcast to the Bitcoin network, sending BTC to the burn address.
— Step 3 — Conversion at the Burn Address (1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUFSKm): the Counterparty protocol observes the proven burn on the main chain and proportionally issues new XCP tokens to the sender on the second layer.
The technical mechanism — Proof-of-Burn — relies on three properties:
— Generated without a private key
— Perpetual immobilization
— Publicly verifiable
The final effects split across two layers:
— Effect on Bitcoin (Layer 1): permanent supply reduction, creating deflationary pressure.
— Effect on Counterparty (Layer 2): new XCP tokens issued for the user.
The summary is structurally elegant: sacrificing an asset on the main chain to acquire an asset on a parallel protocol. This pattern set the precedent for every Proof-of-Burn implementation that followed.
