Beyond sick of our politicians saying they support nurses and they want to give us pay parity, when they still haven’t agreed a health budget, just do the job you were elected to do put party politics to one side. @mlchealth @RobbieButlerMLA @moneillsf @little_pengelly

Meanwhile our health & social care is being decimated by brutal cuts. Less photo ops, more leadership please.
🤝 The Health Minister called in to the Maureen Sheehan Centre, Musgrave Park Hospital and Belfast City Hospital. 🧑‍⚕️ Minister Butler saw first hand the work of, and impact on, staff members and service users as part of a series of visits in the @BelfastTrust area.

Me 🙋‍♀️ My family is also missing out. No social care support here in NI for a profoundly disabled 18 year old who needs full assistance with all daily care needs. #StormontAusterity #CareCantWait

This is the evidence compiled by my GP surgery to go with my PIP review. It includes hospital discharge summaries, reports from clinicians, medication lists etc it is a gruelling process. It is not in the slightest bit like what @Helen_Whately would have you all believe. Try it.

Umm...I'd rather that my severely disabled daughter gets the adult service short-break respite support service that she is entitled to and not receiving at present 😒 This is the service many carers want to support their caring role.
🫂 Many carers are unaware there is support available to help them in their new caring role. 🤝 Community pharmacists are often a first point of contact for carers, helping when time is tight and responsibilities many. 🔗 Find out more: online.hscni.net/our-work/so… @PatientClient

Lilia finished children's short-break respite when she turned 18 & has transitioned onto a WAITING LIST for her adult respite. This isn't transition! This is falling over a cliff edge into an abyss of the unknown & huge gaps in service. #CareCantWait
"But Keys said the lack of respite care in Northern Ireland has left many families under enormous strain, particularly since the pandemic. "There are more children going to be in emergency situations and there just is no facility for them," he told presenter Anne-Marie Wallace"

NI to finally get a Mother and Baby Unit. It’s been talked about for 20 years. Women in NI deserve better. Here’s is yesterday’s news report :
A permanent mother and baby unit will be built in the grounds of the Belfast City Hospital. Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK without such a facility, forcing around 100 women a year to be separated from their babies when admitted to general psychiatric wards

I couldn’t agree more. I raised this last week with the Trust officials at Health Committee. There are plans to deliver changing places in RVH and children’s hospital but no timeframes yet. I will keep pushing on this issue. There should be #ChangingPlaces in all hospitals.

NI’s social care service is fragile others argue it has completely broken down. According to IHCP This story highlights the importance of paying staff proper wages - also who provides a more efficient service - health trusts or independent providers? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly0…

When is #Enough going to be #Enough? @mikenesbittni forget the planned visits & schedules - play attention, to what you aren’t shown or told, question & take actions…beyond the nice pull-out quotes, photo-ops, scripted speeches & VT’s… our Health & Social Care is Flatlining! 🤔

From this week, severely ill and disabled people making new benefit claims will receive lower Universal Credit health element payments than existing claimants if their conditions aren’t deemed "severe and lifelong", with no prospect of improvement. People with cancer, MS, Parkinson’s, bipolar disorder, ME, long Covid, learning disabilities, and survivors of strokes and heart attacks may not get crucial support solely based on when they applied for help. I was one of the MPs who warned last year that this would create a completely unjust two-tier disability benefits system. We must keep fighting for this policy to be reversed.
