When procurement information is openly available, more companies can access opportunities and compete on a level playing field. That means better value for money, greater innovation and stronger confidence in public procurement. #Infrastructure #Procurement #Transparency

Infrastructure includes much more than roads and bridges. The decisions made about these projects affect our daily lives. Better infrastructure starts with better information — and ends with better services. #Infrastructure #Transparency #OpenData

ROAD MAINTENANCE | #Lira Station Our Force Account team is spreading gravel along the 20km Aloi–Adwari section, part of the 83.8km Akia–Olilim Road. Routine gravel road maintenance keeps communities connected long after a road is opened up. #RoadMaintenanceUg

Our Programme Associate Mercy Abiro Owilla led an engaging session #LCOYUg2026, equipping young climate advocates with practical knowledge on how access to information can drive transparency, accountability, and environmental justice. From understanding Uganda's legal framework to combating climate disinformation and using information requests as an accountability tool, the session highlighted that informed citizens are empowered citizens. As the world prepares for #COP31, ensuring communities especially young people can access credible climate information is essential for meaningful participation, stronger accountability, and climate justice.

Today, I inspected the ongoing construction works on the Masaka–Kyotera–Mutukula Road, a strategic regional corridor that connects Uganda to the United Republic of Tanzania and serves as a vital route for trade, tourism and cross-border movement. I am concerned that with only two years remaining on the contract, just about 30% of the works have been completed. This pace is not satisfactory for a project of such national and regional importance. I directed the contractor to intensify dust suppression by regularly watering the entire corridor, to prevent accidents which have become a common occurrence due to the dust and lack of speed humps. The contractor has 90 days to commence tarmarcing of the road! @MoWT_Uganda will maintain close supervision of this project to ensure improved performance, adherence to quality standards and timely delivery.

Wow, timely land acquisition reduces cost overruns and project delays. Happy to see social safe guards at great consideration, thanks @MoWT_Uganda . Hope all entities shall as well publish this data (ESHS)- inGovernment procurement portal gpp.ppda.go.ug/open-data?tab… #Transparency
NO road contract will be signed unless at least 50% of the required land has been acquired. Hon. Fred Byamukama, the Minister @MoWT_Uganda says this will ensure contractors access sites and work without prolonged interruptions. Failure to secure land before construction has been identified as one of the major causes of project delays, escalating costs!! @HonByamukama

🖲️EPS| ICYMI: Last month, we concluded stakeholder validation of proposed reforms to the Fines Issuance System and Speed Regulations, also mostly known as the Electronic Penalty System [EPS]. Recognition!. We commend the efforts by @MoLGUganda in our 6th independent review study. #MATIIP2 road projects scored 88% proactive disclosure practices. There was competitive procurement, and projects continue serving communities, years after completion. linkedin.com/posts/cost-ugan…

Study shows most #road projects had time overruns and contract extensions but no costoverruns. This points to improved financial discipline despite implementation challenges @MoLGUganda. Strengthening pre-construction risk assessments & contingency plans could sustain progress!

Did you know that when people have timely and reliable access to information, they are empowered to understand the services, programmes, and opportunities available to them? They can make informed decisions, participate meaningfully in public affairs, and hold institutions accountable for their actions. Conversely, when information is inaccessible, citizens are often excluded from development initiatives that are intended to improve their lives. This widens inequality, limits participation, and weakens trust in public institutions. #Information
