This happened in my city of Modi'in.
Military Police came to arrest a Haredi draft evader. Within minutes, hundreds arrived to obstruct the arrest. Police ultimately withdrew.
This is bigger than the Haredi draft.
It's about the basic civic contract of the State of Israel.
If you oppose a law, protest it. Challenge it in court. Elect people who will change it.
But no sector gets to decide that the law simply doesn't apply to them while everyone else's children carry the burden.
This is why @EinatWilf's and @ha_miluimnikim led by @YoazHendel1's approach to universal service deserves serious attention:
One state.
One system.
One civic contract.
Not everyone has to carry a rifle.
But everyone should carry their share of the responsibility.
This is one of the reasons I'm supporting Einat Wilf's @ozparty2026 and the Reservists Party in the coming election. It is why I believe everyone should.
