Visiting student researcher at the International Vaccine Aids initiative @imperialcollege London as a 2024 Merkin fellow. I was never born with a silver spoon. All my life, despite the insurmountable challenges I experienced, I have always wanted to be that small little ‘change’

The best thing I have seen today 😭. May God heal the world and bring innocence to our hearts like children.
Y’all, it’s his first time riding the bus and mom is a wreck, but his bus mates told his mom (in Spanish) anyone mess with him and they’re getting handled. Little man got some homies for life right there. 🥹

Thank you @Neal_Lab for changing lives. You are a big inspiration to many of us, that anything is possible.
Putting a pause on family vacation to announce that I’ve been promoted to Associate Professor with #tenure! Starting out in academia, I never dared to think I would become a professor. It was an uphill battle with being first gen, black woman in STEM, and a single parent trainee.

I recall my first @Immunopaedia workshop in Ethiopia starting an a young independent and enthusiastic research exploring the the tools of bioinformatics to study antigenic peptides as vaccine candidates. I feel so fulfilled to be in a lab chasing my dreams to be a virologist.

🥹 my mom called me and sobbed with joy when she saw this. I am emotionally connected to what I do. Coming a country where I have witnessed viral pandemics, I give my all knowing someday I’ll give back to humanity in a tremendous measure. Thank you so much to everyone 🥹

Winning two awesome fellowships (2022 MCElroy and 2023 Merkin fellowships) in less than a year, and learning from an ever supportive PI @EOSaphire is a blessing I can’t take for granted, looking back from where I come from. As a grad student I have learnt to be prayerful
