There’s no such thing as an antisemitic dispensationalist. Give credit where credit is due.

God is using the church to provoke Israel into jealousy, not any supposed “Christian nation.” Romans 10:19: “I will make you jealous of those who are NOT a nation.”

Does the “famous” (ἔπαινος) preacher in 2 Cor 8:18 justify the notion of celebrity pastors? In my critique of evangelical celebrity-ism I draw a distinction between “celebrity pastors” and “public ministers.” Both are well known beyond their immediate spheres, but one wields “power” without proximity while the other stewards “influence” and maintains local church accountability. Almost all celebrity-pastor scandals can be traced back to zero or minimal local church accountability.

Consider the dispensational distinction between the ppl of God via gifting. Unlike the church, Israel was never called to use spiritual gifts to build up Israel. As a covenanted nation, Israel was allotted functions via tribes (eg, Levites were the priests), and God empowered certain Israelites with tasks (eg, Bezalel to construct the tabernacle). As a spiritual body, God graces EVERY member of the church with a spiritual gift for mutual edification in order to build itself up in love and maturity. One body “in Christ” and individually “members one of another” (Rom 12:5).

For seminary students tempted to have AI write your papers, heed this advice from @Svigel commenting on Prov 10:9: “Don’t give up your integrity for a better grade.” (Let the Wise Hear: Devotions for Thriving in Theological Studies, Day 11).

I hope ppl are seeing the relevance of dispensational thought against Webbon’s militant Christian Nationalism / Theonomy. We are radically opposed to his views because of our distinction between Israel (national law) and the church (gospel), and the corollary doctrine of the spirituality of the church. Webbon would have us return to a Mosaic code intended for national, theocratic Israel whereas God currently governs the world via grace (church). Biblical economies/dispensations matter.

To the Reformed brethren who keep attempting to correct Dinesh D'Souza’s false beliefs of Calvinism over and over again—not understanding why he just doesn’t accept corrections from real Calvinists—please remember how frustrating that experience was for you when you promulgate false beliefs about dispensationalism and ignore all corrections from real dispensationalists.

Maybe I just don’t notice their internal quibbles, but I never see Roman Catholics or members of Easter Orthodox attacking each other online. But Evangelicals? Good grief. They’ve made a business out of it. So much for John 13:35.

Completing a dissertation proves you had the ability to execute sustained research on a specific subject matter. When I see “ABD” following “PhD” next to someone’s name, I think “Anything BUT Dissertation.” These types want the coveted letters without doing the very thing that earns that degree.

NEW BOOK ALERT! Legalistic, cultural fundamentalism disguised as “dispensationalism” has traumatized too many people in independent traditions. This book, co-written with my good friend Dave Deets, is deeply pastoral and personal, offering a ground-level corrective of genuine dispensational thought. We are grateful that Regular Baptist Press wasn’t threatened by our critique of pockets of fundamentalism and saw this as a helpful resource for their audience(s). Full title: Rescue Me from “Dispensationalism”: Liberating the Truth from Its Impostor.

Nobody claims the label “neo-evangelical” today. But many Christians, churches, schools, denominations and networks, missions organizations, etc still identify as “fundamentalist.” Neo-evangelicalism lost. Fundamentalism won. Biblical separatism was the deciding factor.

An unhelpful dissonance exists with churches that say they hold to a high view of Scripture but avoid eschatology on “what we believe / teach” statements. Eschatology is not a tertiary issue in Scripture (virtually the entire Bible is eschatologically related). When I see a church site skipping their eschatological positions, I think cowards who aren’t bold and/or ashamed of the majority of the Bible (as an aside - I’d happily attend a church whose eschatology I disagree with but is clear about it over one that doesn’t think it important enough to disclose!). Churches should be clear and bold where they stand on eschatology, and leave the consequences to God.

No matter how much scholarship proves @GribbenC’s point (in our book, Discovering Dispensationalism historian David Bebbington said virtually the same thing as Gribben), careless anti-dispensationalists will continue to promulgate the myth that Darby invented dispensationalism.
Please accept this reminder that almost every one of Darby's so-called theological innovations has antecedents among the puritans.
