Because Ukraine was never beyond possibility. Because a trained reserve and a high will to defend the country remain foundations of Finland’s defence. Because, as Hillel said, "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? If not now, when?"

This VERY shady individual, Armando Mema, portrays himself as a “Finnish politician” while conveniently hiding the fact that he has not been elected to anything He spreads literal russian propaganda in both English and Finnish This is how russian propaganda operates in Finland.
Corrupted media and propagandist Petri Korhonen accuses me again for exposing the facts. Finnish media is over a year they censore me and my political party, spread false info and try to discredit us. In order to have better Democracy Finland need free media.

I'm a great admirer of Kasparov, but this is just poor analysis. Are there anything indicating other European countries would be weaker than Ukraine? Historically, attacking cities have rarely broken the spirit of the population or the leadership - and this includes in Europe.
‼️ Some brutal truth 🔽 “I want to see which European capital could withstand just one drone attack. They’ll run away, shit themselves — pardon my language — and surrender.”.” — Garry Kasparov

I know some European countries score low on "Would you want your country to continue fighting with uncertain outcome if attacked?", but to an extent that is what people say in peace, and if actually attacked "let's draft our youth to beat the barbarians"-spirit tend to kick in.

Like, what were the numbers in Ukraine in 2013 (or 2021, for the matter)? Danger is Putin has done that mistake before, and it is part of a longer line of Russia/Soviet (and other major powers) believing people won't fight back if facing huge firepower, so he might do it again.

Nice reporting on our study 👍
The Arithmetic of Reinforcement: What Getting NATO to the Northern Nordics Actually Takes A new study of the Northern Nordics argues that the alliance’s northern flank will be won or lost at the transfer nodes, long before the battlefield (Link with analysis of the report below)

"Within meters" sounds... very close. In fact, even 1-2 km is very close. This does not look good at all.
1/x According to current orbital elements, the Russian #KOSMOS 2612 satellite is now within 1-2 km of #ICEYE-X36. Based on current elements, it might come within meters of the latter within a few hours from now. This is an #RPO without consent. (cont.)

Replying to @CorporalFrisk
@CorporalFrisk - contract signed. Looks like Germany will soon be the biggest operator of the M18. 15 boats ordered now. Official requirement for 2035 stands at “40+”, per Kurs Marine.

People spend far too much time wondering what a Handley Page Atlantic would look like in a Viggen scheme. Well, here's the answer, so we can all move on with our lives now. Goodnight.

I will say I find it quite strange that these continuously run at loss as the Kokkola-Helsinki flight (which is the one I use regularly) tend to be booked at a high rate, meaning it does feel like there should be the possibility of shifting at least some cost to the ticket price.

Another question is obviously not the traffic itself, but the societal/comprehensive defence/emergency services value of having airports in operation, and that is generally easier if you have regular traffic, though it can of course be handled by paying directly for the airport.

Finnish PM Orpo (@kokoomus) tells @Yleisradio that shooting down Russian aircraft intruding would be "very dangerous" in peacetime, and that it's "unlikely" increased Russian hybrid attacks would cause danger to civilian lives. I have questions... 1/2 yle.fi/a/7-10106872?utm_medi…

The second part is straight up false. Russian hybrid attacks have already cost civilian lives, and endangered several more. Most famously the Skripal poisoning in Salisbury, which led to the death of Dawn Sturgess. 3/3

I argue that we do have options for how to meet Russian aggressive attacks, and until we actually do something, regardless of any political statements about attacks being "unacceptable", we are in fact accepting them. kkrva.se/vanta-och-se-eller-…

It would be interesting to see why the MoD favors Sweden. One aspect may be a recent emphasis on defence industrial considerations compared to service requirements. Another could well be that Sweden happens to rely on the US a lot more than some commenters want to acknowledge.
Germany needs a new sixth-gen fighter jet plan. Documents I've seen show Berlin's MoD favoring teaming up with Sweden But now Britain is courting Chancellor Merz for its own jet plan Early days, but I wonder if competing preferences could emerge between Merz and his govt's MoD
