Epic 7 hour coach trip from Truro to London for the #restorenaturenow march. Worth every minute. So good to be surrounded by 60,000 other people that give a monkey's.

Promising news (makes a nice change!)😁
In the small print of the latest Defra Environmental Land Management additions, new generous payments for farmers to establish ribbon wetlands along watercourses on their land. This is huge, because riparian buffers make the best nature corridors, as well as helping dramatically to reduce both flooding and drought - and even more so when they have beavers managing them instead of people. gov.uk/government/publicatio…
This is one of several other fenced beaver sites in Cornwall. Higher up in a river catchment so a narrower valley floor than at Woodland Valley Farm. Unbelievably the beavers at this site have a taste for laurel and seek it out!! What is that about?🤔
Had a break from budget stuff to visit a 4ha #beaver enclosure in NE Cornwall yesterday. Mindbogglingly good wetland is being constructed. The original incised river channel is away to the right of this picture. Imagine what this will look and sound like in May/June!! 🦫

Can you help get the human swan Sacha Dench mobile again? Wildlife needs people like her more than ever to speak on its behalf.....⬇️
Help Sacha help wildlife! @sachadench needs new legs following the tragic accident, and you can help. All contributions for prosthetic legs to assist her mobility will be matched so your donation big or small is worth double. Thank you! #TogetherWeFly crowdfunder.co.uk/p/new-legs…

We couldn't agree more....
Beavers are a keystone species, which means they shape our landscapes, creating new habitats for other species, while also helping manage water flow and catchments. 🦫
Their work captures carbon, nutrient pollution and runoff.

We have been on tour! River Stour beavers in Kent then @kentwildlife's Ham Fen and the @kneppsafari beaver enclosure! Time to throw the wetland habitat management handbook in the recycling? 😁

Honoured to present the opening keynote at #beaverconference23. Much wisdom shared at this important meeting on the benefits of having these animals back in the landscape, including for Nature recovery. Risks need to be managed but upsides outweigh negatives, including for fish.

Great news BUT not putting the flags out quite yet, waiting until government is open to applications for wild releases🤞
Today is a historic day!

We talk a lot about beavers helping to reduce flooding but they can help keep streams flowing in dry conditions too👍
