Our Earth science fleet just got... NISAR.
Shortly after launch on an @ISRO rocket, the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar spacecraft successfully separated from its ride to orbit.
We'd say this satellite is more than nice, it's great. 😎 Find out why at go.nasa.gov/46RZixM.
The NISAR (@NASA -@isro Synthetic Aperture Radar) mission, a collaboration between NASA and the Indian Space Research Org., is set to launch at 8:10 a.m. EDT, Wednesday, July 30.
We will be watching in the Map Room at Snee Hall. How about you?

EAS Professor Rowena Lohman has been heavily involved in the planning of this satellite's mission.
A new view of Earth: @NASA and the Indian Space Research Organization are launching a satellite that uses synthetic aperture radar – and @CornellEAS expertise – to monitor nearly all the planet’s land- and ice-covered surfaces twice every 12 days. news.cornell.edu/stories/202…
EAS Professor Britney Schmidt and Icefin have been able to show that ocean water in this region of Greenland is almost two degrees warmer than it was less than 10 years ago. @CornellEng @Cornell @NASA

This week, we hosted a two-day climate risk modeling hackathon that brought together over 30 @Cornell faculty, graduate students, and industry professionals in the insurance sector to explore practical solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in the field 💡
“This challenges the old idea that eruptions are fueled by magma stored in the Earth’s crust and suggests a new possibility,” said lead author Esteban Gazel.
Using advanced technology that analyzes tiny gas bubbles trapped in crystal, a @Cornell-led team of scientists has precisely mapped how magma storage evolves as Hawaiian volcanoes age. @ScienceAdvances @CornellEAS @NSF news.cornell.edu/stories/202…
