This 🫶🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 We should be respectful to our patients, our colleagues and ourselves. Long working hours will probably always be needed to get more skilled, however there should be balance, respect and flexibility. @Assoc_Anaes @bctimes @HeForShe

Hands up if you have had one of these?!

A case report on local anaesthetic resistance!
Two epidurals, a spinal and a pudendal nerve block ALL FAILED for this obstetric patient.
Could it be due to increased microvascular permeability and fragile connective tissues? 🤔

LA resistance is drug dependent and can be as high as 1%. Causes are genetic variations of Na channels,Joint hyper mobility syndromes, scorpion envenomation and mutation of melanocortin 1 receptor.( ginger hair). I’ve seen it a few times with patients from Mediterranean origins.
