Another reason I'm against excessive immigration because if every place is diverse, no place is unique. You actually lose diversity in the world.

Charles Murray, in Coming Apart, on some of the characteristics of the "old money" WASPs, much of which has since disappeared as taxes, inflation, and spiritual ennui destroyed that group:
"The subset of old-money millionaires did have something resembling a distinct culture. Besides living in a few select neighborhoods, they were concentrated in Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. They summered or wintered in a few select places such as Bar Harbor, Newport, and Palm Beach. They sent their children to a select set of prep schools and then to the Ivy League or the Seven Sisters. Within their enclaves, old-money America formed a distinct social group"

Steve Sarkisian said Arch Manning was “edgy” in practice this week.
So I’ve attributed every game played by the Longhorns to a song sung by My Chemical Romance.
• Texas State: “Sing!”
• Ohio State: “This Is the Best Day Ever
• UTSA: “Welcome to the Black Parade”
• Tennessee: “The Foundation of Decay”
• Oklahoma: “The World is Ugly”
• Florida: “Famous Last Words”
Queued up for Saturday: “Fake Your Death” or “Dead!”

I typically get along with everyone but my coworkers were a bit easier to befriend in Atlanta. Midwest progressive white and Atlantan progressive white are worlds apart culturally.
For mediocre students, this is an easy decision. Would I rather freeze my butt off at Syracuse or go to the football games and tailgates at Alabama? Not a hard choice.

Gaza is not a top 20 foreign policy issue for America. It only matters because of media saturation and foreign influence campaigns. What happens with Ukraine, Taiwan, NATO, global trade, climate change, etc... all obviously rank higher. Mehdi is delusional.
Because most 18 year olds don't care that much about academic programs or prestige and pick their university based on opportunities for fun and partying. For most people, college is a 4 year resort.

This is such an interesting clash of cultures. I'm not sure Gaza ranks among even the top 20 foreign policy questions of the last 25 years. Iraq is a bit higher, but in the long run, surprisingly inconsequential too.
Gaza is not close to a top 10 foreign policy issue of Yglesia’s lifetime. It’s not something that materially impacts the US. It’s a huge deal for the third worldists which have moved into the US over the past decade or so.
