A CALL TO ARMS [in a thread…]
#Resilience is reframing adversity.
For too many of us, this #pandemic has been devastating, even nightmarish in its effect.
But is there a way to rewrite the story we tell ourselves about it so that it no longer defeats us but mobilises us…?
Again?! Yet another self-centred retirement during a series, but maddeningly, with a day or so left of a series defining test!
What team player worth their salt does this & think it’s okay?!
AND THEN decides to open the closing innings! Is this suddenly the Ben Stokes Show…??
One of England's all-time greatest captains, Ben Stokes, has decided to retire from international cricket at the end of this Test match.
Ben, you have been the most inspirational captain, leader and legend this team could have ever hoped for.
We love you so much and wish you all the best in your retirement ❤️
England will never be the same again.
Am I missing something?! Why do players think it’s okay to retire in the middle of a series? It’s selfish, it’s disruptive to the squad, & you’ve taken the place of another player who doesn’t benefit from the series’ preparations.
Completely unacceptable, surely…?!
One of our greatest ever, signing off.
Kane Williamson has announced his retirement from international cricket effective immediately.

You absolute fiend!! That was a bit much, MB, tugging at our heart strings like that!
I am very sad to see you go. But just want to say thank you for giving so much of yourself to help make so, so many memories.
Appreciate you, value you, & wish you all the very best, Sis… xx
Practically identical first innings batting performances. Any chance we can sneak a win out of this one…?
No fairytale ending for Disney FC…! #CFC #EmiratesFACup
#WorldBookDay2026: very confused seeing a lad walking home dressed as a banana.
Maybe the fancy dress shop ran out of peaches…?!

One argument is that this is downstream of the decline in reading. As people’s information diet shifts from longer and more complex texts to short snippets, and from text to video, people’s effective literacy levels decline.

NEW 🧵: Is human intelligence starting to decline?
Recent results from major international tests show that the average person’s capacity to process information, use reasoning and solve novel problems has been falling since around the mid 2010s.
What should we make of this?

Holy shit! After Megyn Kelly gave a free pass to pedophiles Trump and Jeffrey Epstein to fuck children, this 14-year-old girl just gave Kelly a brutal reality check. 😳👇
