Congrats to Barnabé and other awardees of the Talent Program of Catalysis and Sustainable Chemistry prizes 2026 sponsored by @clariant @ETH_DCHAB @ETH
How about a non-destructive "analytical ruler" for chlorinated impurities? In our recently published work, we combine ³⁵Cl NQR spectroscopy and DFT to identify trace byproducts in industrial MDI streams.

A new solid-to-solid relayed DNP approach enables sensitivity-enhanced NMR of surfaces that are incompatible with conventional radical impregnation. Just published in JACS, in collaboration with the Lesage group in Lyon!

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) are said to bridge heterogeneous and molecular catalysis. But how “molecular” is our understanding? Our latest JACS provides a molecular-level description of the metal–support interface in a prototypical SAC: Pt₁/γ-Al₂O₃.

Yesterday, our former group members Anna, Domenico, Enzo, and Christian officially received their doctoral degree certificates. Congratulations to all four on this well-deserved achievement and best wishes for the exciting careers ahead!
Pioneering works explained the MOs of metal clusters through a fragment approach, later supported by DFT. Here, we show that 195Pt ssNMR fingerprints of Chini clusters encode information about their electronic structure.

Congrats to Anna on the successful defense of her PhD! 🎉Her work focused on the use of nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) to understand the state of chlorine in industrial catalytic processes. Many thanks to Dr. Florian and Dr. Pauschinge for serving as examiners.
Congrats to Enzo on the successful defense of his PhD! 🎉His work focused on the use of advanced microscopy to understand the behaviour of well-defined catalysts. Many thanks to Prof. Ersen and Müller for serving as examiners.
Synthesizing Pt/γ-Al2O3 materials, ubiquitous in heterogeneous catalysis, with well-defined Pt nuclearity remains challenging. In this work, we demonstrate how SOMC can be employed to tune cluster size down to single atoms. @ChemEurope

Congrats to Domenico on the successful defense of his PhD! 🎉His work focused on advancing the molecular understanding of SACs and clusters using solid-state NMR and DFT calculations.
Many thanks to Professors G. Pacchioni and B. Chaudret for serving as examiners.
47/49Ti NMR Crystallography enables to refine the speciation, distortion and distribution of Ti sites in Titanium Silicalite-1, a prominent catalyst for sustainable selective oxidation reactions
