Gateway ➡️Lincoln paper ➡️Omaha paper ➡️ Stanford Law ➡️long legal career ➡️California Superior Court Judge.
Thanks Judge Ulmer!! — the first of many Gateway greats to be put on our newsroom map!!!
An OG (Original Gateway) hellraiser stopped by the newsroom today. Dick Ulmer went from the Gateway to the LJS to @owhnews to Stanford Law and to a legal career that landed him on California’s Superior Court. Judge is the first Gateway great on our alumni map. Many more to come💪
Gateway journalists digging for answers on what, if anything, UNO is doing about a frat member’s rape comment made on the phone of a freshman woman who didn’t know her phone was being used. She just happened to be a sex assault survivor and called the video triggering.⬇️
A UNO fraternity member could be heard loud & clear when he asked on video “what if we raped a b——” But UNO officials have been less than clear abt what they’re investigating. At the outset, a source said they didn’t probe the rape comment. unothegateway.com/news/initi…

Back in 2009, refs were right to put a second back on the clock for Texas. Tonight, they were just dead wrong to put a second back on for Michigan. What a joke.

As it has throughout, the Gateway captures the sentencing of a former NU Regent and Douglas County prosecutor in
a sordid case.
The former prosecutor and NU regent representing UNO’s district was sentenced to prison for a 2025 drunk-driving crash that devastated an Omaha family. Gateway editor Dayanara Marroquin was in the courtroom as Elizabeth O’Connor learned her fate.

It was a regular summer class at the Community Engagement Center, smack dab in the middle of UNO’s campus. This wasn’t the kind of engagement anyone wanted.
