Counterproposal: I will personally destroy all 51 (or so) of the people movers at 10% of the proposed rehab cost and MWAA can use their savings to build a walkway.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority gave preliminary approval to rehab a people mover/mobile lounge and a plane mate. The unique vehicles are nearly 60 years old. If the rehabs go well, they'll then vote to redo the other 50 or so vehicles. dcist.com/story/23/06/21/va-…

MWAA: "whhhyyyyy won't more people use Dulles instead of DCA?" Also MWAA: "We will extend the life of the Dulles people movers for another 20 years!"

This chump can't even crop the picture to make his junk plausible. It says +.49C global temp compared to 1979-2000 average right there! Never mind that this 20 yr average was at least +.5C compared to the 100 years before 1979.
Media blames Spanish heat wave on global warming. Reality: Warmer in Spain but cooler in France = Weather

Riding a train today and you know what that means? Watching another passenger nearly hit by their own tumbling luggage while struggling to board @amtrak at @UnionStationDC_ . How are these low platforms still real?

Slovakian sees a video about American suburbs and posts questions to Reddit. The level of bafflement is hilarious and appropriate.

For me, being there seems more normal and comfortable. Much wilder is when I come back home from the airport through one neighborhood after another with maybe a dozen people on the streets. I don't really notice until then that even a city like DC feels so much emptier
it’s always wild when you leave America’s car-oriented sprawl and visit cities in Europe and Asia that are so much more walkable and lively we really have so much to learn from the rest of the world

Instead, Uber created a lost decade for transit activism, in which the jingling car-keys of subsidized rideshare distracted us from the fight to provide transit equity to our whole cities. 61/

Cities support the EPA's authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.
Today, the Sabin Center filed an amicus brief on behalf of @leagueofcities and @usmayors in West Virginia v. EPA, a case that is currently before the United States Supreme Court. Read more about the case and amicus brief here: bit.ly/3KFDyb0.

Save it? As a cautionary tale?
The 1963 demolition of the original 1910 Pennsylvania Station — an opulent Beaux-Arts building modeled on the Roman Baths of Caracalla — was considered such a grave crime against architecture that it gave rise to the historical preservation movement itself trib.al/IeWHkuS

After years of debate with our flat roof on a pretty efficient row house, we're going solar just in time for the winter solstice

Replying to @BrentToderian
That's triple the battery-weight of a Nissan Leaf. You could build 3 Nissan Leafs with the batteries you put into one EV hummer, which means 2 commuters will keep on using a gas-burner. EV growth is constricted by battery supply. The EV Hummer is basically hoarding.

Green roofs and green infrastructure help cities save money, improve public health, and offer savings for building owners. Shout out to my colleague Anna for her work on this with @OmniEcosystems, and FYI @smartsurfaces_c
By investing in green infrastructure projects, communities can address environmental concerns while transforming urban landscapes into vibrant ecosystems – all while reducing costs to cities and property owners and providing green spaces for residents: nlc.org/article/2021/11/30/g…

Every time someone says that 'making it harder to drive will need radical changes' show them this. Creating current car dependency was only possible with a massive, decade-long and destructive effort to erase the city as we knew it. (via instagram.com/tv/CWbOT1PN1Lg…)
