SACCOs in Uganda are engines of financial inclusion and SME development. However, as they have grown in size and number, over the past decade, they continue to face a complex regulatory landscape under the ambits of the @mtic_uganda , the Microfinance Regulatory Department under the @mofpedU , more recently, the @BOU_Official .
Untangling this regulatory dilemma is one of the hot potatoes on the menu of the new Minister of State for Cooperatives, Hon. Aleru Tom Aza.
In August, stakeholders led by @accosca , the @BOU_Official and @ucscucoop convened in @spekeresort to explore a way forward following the regulatory deadlock.
