@huggingface CEO just said a secret proprietary model attacked it, and an open model defended it.
@nvidia is not shipping Nemotron as charity. @ClementDelangue already called it the king of American open source AI.
@JensenHuang explains the logic from the inside. Any usable model, open or closed, wherever it’s from, increases total AI usage.
More usage means more Nvidia demand regardless of who wins the model layer. He frames open models as the sovereignty option and closed models as the convenience option, not as rivals.
The real risk to price in is regulatory, not technical. @DavidSacks argues the push to ban open models isn’t about safety.
It’s Anthropic and OpenAI angling for a government-protected duopoly. Chinese open-weight labs already fetch $50-70B in private valuations. If a security incident becomes the argument for keeping US open models alive, the winner is whoever owns that ecosystem. Not whoever wins the ban.
We got attacked by secret unreleased proprietary models and defended ourselves with an open model, more precisely the @nvidia quantized version of GLM 5.2 coming from @Zai_org.
Banning any open model would hurt first cyber security defenders, startups, small companies, researchers and everyone who's not a frontier lab and need on-prem affordable controlable models to compete and protect themselves. Let's not do that!

NVIDIA Model Optimizer 0.45.0 is out — big upgrades for everyone, but especially exciting for MoE models with NVFP4 quantization!
Key benefits for MoE quantization:
✨ New “active experts” mode in AutoQuantize — now understands only some experts run at a time, for smarter mixed-precision choices
✨ Better quantization for DeepSeek-style models + easy exact MXFP4 → NVFP4 conversion for routed experts
✨ New W4A16 NVFP4 weight-only mode (no calibration needed) — huge memory savings while keeping good quality
✨ Improved calibration & KV-cache options tailored for MoE models
Should result in higher-quality NVFP4 MoE models, lower memory use, and better throughput on Blackwell with almost no accuracy loss!
This might fix the issues I'm having with Qwen3.6-35b NVFP4 if they are generous enough to update it.
