James Spader Says He Refused To Wear A Motion-Capture Suit Again For Marvel’s Vision Quest After Going All In For Age Of Ultron
James Spader: “For Age of Ultron, I did all the motion capture stuff that one can do.”
“Joss Whedon said, ‘You can either leave it to the CGI wizards or go all in.’
“I said, ‘Well, if I’m going to do it, I might as well do it all in, right?’”
“When we got to Vision Quest, there were only a couple of moments with Ultron as the robot.”
“I said to the effects guys, ‘You’re on your own.’”
“I’ll act the scene, but the motion-capture suit, I just cannot. I don’t have an interest in that.”

I'm betting that Ultron is working on his human form and that this look right here is a look we are getting 🔥.

Who else thinks casting James Spader to portray Ultron’s human avatar in VisionQuest is a stroke of genius?
I recently saw some TikToks complaining about Ultron's human form and how it is far from his robot appearance - and I wondered if these kids have seen Spader as Raymond "Red" Reddington on *The Blacklist.*
MCU is on to some casting magic here & something most don't probably remember is that Ultron in AOU was not pure CGI - it was Spader himself doing full motion-capture on set for the 2015 film because his physical acting—his specific tilts of the head, dramatic posturing, and subtle facial ticks—is what makes him so uniquely unsettling!
A FEW MORE HOURS TILL PREMIERE ON DISNEY+ 🥳. #JamesSpader #visionquest
