It took me decades to fully accept the truth of this statement:
Most people are nothing more than a soupy mix of opinions and random facts fed to them by their schools and screens.
There is no thinking because there is no actual self.
This is exactly the type of problem we created @gemini_sports to solve
Wait what I completely missed the Vanderbilt news.
Absolutely incredible scenes.
Now we need the rail infrastructure!!
It’s pretty incredible how much has happened in South Florida just in 2026:
• Jan 12: Vanderbilt moves forward with a ~$520M West Palm Beach campus. Stephen Ross commits $50M.
• Jan 20: Wells Fargo moves its Wealth & Investment Management HQ to West Palm Beach. ~$16B annual revenue business.
• Jan 27: D-Wave moves its corporate HQ from Palo Alto → Boca Raton and builds a major R&D operation at BRiC.
• Jan 27: FAU commits $20M to bring a D-Wave quantum computer to Boca and build out its quantum ecosystem.
• Feb 17: Palantir moves its HQ from Denver → South Florida.
• Mar 25: KKR opens a permanent office in Miami.
• June 2: Pine Crest announces a new West Palm Beach campus. Stephen Ross ultimately commits $100M to the project.
• Sep 10: Andreessen Horowitz announces a West Palm Beach regional HQ for its $1.176B American Dynamism fund.
• Sep 11: Stephen Ross / Related Ross buys BRiC in Boca: 124 acres + 1.7M sq. ft. of space.
• Sep 30: Ken Griffin gives Carnegie Mellon $3 BILLION, the largest individual gift in higher-ed history. $2B goes toward building CMU Miami in Wynwood for 3,500+ students.
And this is on top of Citadel building its new Miami HQ and Stephen Ross planning $10B+ of investment across Palm Beach County.
Vanderbilt. Carnegie Mellon. Palantir. D-Wave. a16z. KKR. Wells Fargo. Citadel. FAU. Pine Crest.
Miami → Fort Lauderdale → Boca → West Palm.
Feels like South Florida is hitting an inflection point, and we’re just getting started.
This reads much more naturally for X/LinkedIn while keeping the numbers that make the story impressive.

Miami’s favorite excuse just died
“Miami has capital but no engineers”
Griffin just dropped CMU Miami in Wynwood
3,500+ students. 900 faculty/staff. One of the country’s best CS/AI engines
If you’re waiting for Miami to get serious, you’re late

Odds of Miami becoming a true T1 city for talent and tech just skyrocketed
Hedge-fund titan Ken Griffin is donating $2 billion to start a Carnegie Mellon University campus in Miami, part of the largest-ever individual gift toward higher education on.wsj.com/4AGpvMq
Woah
There it is
The gravity of power shifting
The one missing link, elite technical education, is arriving
This has global implications and I am here for it
Ken Griffin made a $3 BILLION gift to Carnegie Mellon University, the largest individual gift in American higher education history and for a Miami, Florida campus!!!
And the centerpiece is extraordinary:
$2 BILLION to build a new 35-acre Carnegie Mellon campus in Miami.
CMU Miami is expected to ultimately serve 3,500+ students, nearly 300 faculty and 600+ staff, with graduate students arriving as early as 2028.
For those who don’t know @CarnegieMellon
Carnegie Mellon is one of the great technology universities on Earth.
Computer science.
Artificial intelligence.
Robotics.
Engineering.
Design.
Advanced manufacturing.
CMU has spent decades sitting at the intersection of science + technology + entrepreneurship + the real economy.
And that’s why this matters so much.
Miami’s next chapter cannot simply be measured by how many companies relocate here.
The real measure is whether we build the institutions that continuously produce talent, research, intellectual property, founders and entirely new industries.
CMU Miami can become one of those institutions.
The planned campus will focus on enormous real-world challenges including AI, human health, national security, energy, climate resilience and industrial innovation, with research labs and venture studios designed to connect academia, industry and government.
Think about the economic flywheel this can create:
Talent → Research → IP → Startups → Venture Capital → Companies → Jobs → More Talent.
And this doesn’t happen in isolation.
Miami already has extraordinary higher-ed anchors.
@univmiami brings world-class research, medicine and scholarship.
@FIU has become one of America’s most consequential large public research universities and an enormous engine of upward mobility and talent.
@MDCollege is arguably one of the most important workforce and access institutions anywhere in the country.
CMU doesn’t replace that ecosystem.
It makes the ecosystem more powerful.
Imagine the collaborations.
Joint research.
Faculty networks.
Shared talent.
Startup formation.
Industry partnerships.
National-security innovation.
AI commercialization.
Students moving between classrooms, laboratories, companies and venture studios across South Florida.
That is how regional economies compound.
And we should also acknowledge something important:
This will be a journey.
Buildings don’t create innovation ecosystems.
People do.
It will take years of recruiting extraordinary faculty, attracting students, connecting with existing institutions, earning trust in the community and translating research into companies and jobs.
But today the ceiling of what Miami can become just moved higher.
For years we’ve talked and worked on Miami becoming one of the world’s great centers for technology, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Increasingly, the institutional infrastructure is catching up with the ambition.
And perhaps the most exciting part:
This isn’t simply a Miami story.
It’s a Florida story.
A world-class technology university planting a major flag here strengthens Florida’s ability to compete for the scientists, engineers, founders, companies and industries that will define the next 50 years.
Capital moves fast.
Companies move fast.
But universities build civilizations.
CMU coming to Miami is a very, very big deal.

Pretty rad poem though, right?!
I started caring less about what people in the industry think of me over the past few years, and we're taking off
The ability to look foolish in public is an underrated wealth-building skill.
Your tolerance for humiliation will take you further than your tolerance for risk.

The distance between well-run football clubs and poorly run football clubs will continue to grow, and there will be fewer places to hide

It’s rare in life that the truth is so extremely one-sided that it becomes a basic intelligence and awareness test.
If you, as a Sporting Director, can't access information without asking someone else for it, you don't have a system.
Look at your current setup. Scout reports in email. Analytics dashboards on a desktop. Contract PDFs somewhere. Finance spreadsheets elsewhere. WhatsApps here, there and everywhere.
You don't need more dashboards. You don't need more analysts. You need one thing: complete information in your hands, accessible instantly, giving you the context to decide.
That's what separates clubs that consistently win from clubs that perpetually scramble. How much is that worth?
Well… how much do you value your job?

Zoom out a step:
He is living in one of the very best pound for pound lifestyle cities on earth, with zero stress about a new manager/regime disliking him: instead of having to find a new home every two years, he smashes it on the International stage instead.
He's won at life!
To revisit that Oyarzabal disrespect again.
He’s won two Copa Del Rey titles with Sociedad. That’s half of the total Copa Del Rey the club has won in their history. He scored in both finals.
He’s Sociedad through and through. His buyout clause is €75m, he doesn’t have an agent, a clear indication that he’s not about the move.
He’s not a player you’ll remember for scoring many goals but he’s won everything a player of his ambition can win. And he’s doing it at home, with his people.
There’s no greater career than that.

I'd love this approach from Arsenal if they say, "top-end prime market is broken, let's take the younger moonshots and backfill creatively"

People so easily forget that 20yrs ago Juventus were relegated for a lot less.
This stuff happens. They came back.

If you want to focus just on the sporting side, on the 7 PSR breaches, City should get an exemplary sentence (compared to Chelsea's sweetheart deal) which means at least dropping them out of the PL or making a point deduction that sends them to the Championship + 100m + in fines.
City did not cooperate at all and dragged the PL for years by throwing dozens of millions in lawyers and creating absurd spending on the PL to keep up.
