I like Trump and I think overall heâs doing a good job, but the name change of Lake Ontario to Lake America is a mistake. Lake Ontario is where the name Ontario originated, with Canadaâs Ontario province being named after it nearly 200 years later. Itâs a unique name thatâs tied to American history all the way back to when Upstate New York became part of the union, it shouldnât be renamed.
This renaming honestly annoys me because it goes against a tradition that led to many place names across the USA. Historically pioneers would ask Native Americans what they called a place and would then anglicize it. This led to place names like Seattle, Chicago, Kentucky, Alabama, Michigan, Miami, Iowa, Kansas, etc, and in this case Lake Ontario.
No President should be renaming any city, state, lake or mountain in the USA. The only time any place should be renamed is to restore a previous name that was already changed by another President. Like when Trump restored the name Mt. McKinley in Alaska after Obama had changed it to Mt. Denali.
American farmers are one of the groups guilty of using mass immigration to their benefit. They heavily fund and partake in advocacy for mass migration into the USA through many ways. It started in 1917 when American farmers pushed the federal government to enact the Mexican Farm Labor Program which saw 70,000 Mexicans come to the USA. This was then followed by the the Bracero program in 1942 which saw around 4.5 million Mexicans come to the USA between 1942 and 1964.
Around the same time Farmers helped get through the H-2 and H-2A Visa Programs in 1952 which allows farmers to bring in foreign workers to fill any âlabor shortagesâ they have on their farms, which has seen hundreds of thousands of migrants from Latin America come to the USA. In 1986 farmers across the USA also worked together to get through the Special Agricultural Worker program which saw 1.3 million migrants get permanent residency in America.
Farmers across America seem to support mass migration because using migrant labor is far cheaper than automatization of farm machinery or paying Americans to do the same jobs.
A few weeks before Charlie was killed, he gave a speech to a conference of roofers. He was shocked that a group which invited him to speak and largely voted Trump, was also hostile toward deportations. They felt their businesses needed illegals for cheap labor.
A couple of thoughts:
- We cannot be held hostage by industries that have grown addicted to low-wage illegals. It's a felony that undercuts American wages.
- I refuse to believe that Americans are unwilling or unable to do jobs like roofing. If you pay Americans a decent wage, the workers will come.
- If we are going to restore American sovereignty, and the rule of law, it will require sacrifice. These are relatively small in historical terms. Certian goods might cost more, even burritos!
This is the central question of our time: Are Americans tough enough or strong enough to take our medicine and save the country?
One immigration policy in America that isnât talked about much is the Cuban Adjustment Act. The Act grants Cuban nationals American green cards if they live in the USA for at least 1 year. Hundreds of thousands of Cubans have already used to it get permanent residence in America, and we may see millions more coming over the next few decades. Itâs a policy that Republican politicians and commentators seem to turn a blind eye to.
