BREAKING: Egypt officially deploys troops to Saudi Arabia to fight Yemen's Houthis, with the National Defense Council approving it, and parliament holding an emergency session this afternoon, per MP Bakry.
It makes Egypt the largest Arab state to commit troops against the Houthis.
Egypt now enters a war against the force controlling Bab el-Mandeb, putting the Suez canal in play.

As a one-time Vancouverite, I think JJ is correct here. Sim and the centre-right didn't move quickly or competently enough on street disorder, and they didn't project enough seriousness either.
But it's worth noting one other dynamic.
Many on the activist left, the Sean Orr types, think it's basically impossible to resolve these issues without some kind of major revolutionary change. No social program, no policing, no reforms within the system will work. At best you can somewhat reduce certain harms, but you can't actually fix things without a new society.
So they allow terrible human suffering to continue, and even get worse, because it functions as an indictment of the kind of Western free-market liberal-democratic society we've inherited.
Every now and again they can persuade enough normies to vote for them -- see the alliance with Green voting eco-boomers -- but then they just wreak havoc, because they fundamentally don't want to fix the system, they want to replace it.
This isn't the entire urban left. There are some reformers. But it's a big part of it, and now that the left will govern Vancouver without any real local elected opposition, you can expect this dynamic to come up again and again.

Quebec separatists blaming Ottawa for mass immigration is the most schizophrenic take in Canadian politics.
Since 1963, prime ministers sitting for Quebec ridings have run this country for 46 of 63 years. Pierre Trudeau. Mulroney. Chrétien. Martin. Justin Trudeau. 73% of every immigrant admitted to Canada came in on their watch.
In 1991, Mulroney gave Quebec the power to select its own immigrants in the name of protecting French. Quebec can take up to 28% of the national intake. It has averaged under 17%, and took just 13% in 2022. Ontario absorbs the rest, including the immigrants who land in Quebec and then leave.
Then Justin Trudeau, MP for Papineau, opened the floodgates.
You’re not victims of this system.
You built it and exempted yourselves from it.

There is no democratic solution to the situation in France (and in much of Europe). Liberal democracy was forced onto most of Europe by the USA (and UK). Any deviation from liberal democracy will be harshly punished.
No real change until the USA is removed and its influence reduced, resulting in liberal democracy going the way of the Eastern Bloc in 1989.

These people should not have freedom, much less the ability to limit yours.
The same man helping to make antisemitism laws restricting, your speech has been arrested for molesting his own grandson.
The affidavit says that he urinated in his grandson’s mouth, but for whatever reason, the law that he helped pass is still on the books.
Should people who are molesting children, especially members of their own family, be able to make laws that put restrictions on your speech?

SEXUAL ASSAULT. SEXUAL INTERFERENCE INVOLVING A CHILD UNDER 14. FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT.
These are the three criminal charges reportedly documented in court records involving Pavneet Singh, Vice-President of the Conservative Party of B.C. and its candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream.
In a statement to iNFOnews, Singh says he was mistakenly accused in connection with an incident at a public park and that prosecutors eventually recognized his innocence.
Concerned members of the Kelowna Sikh community brought this matter to the attention of OneBC, raising serious questions about the case.
Three important questions remain unanswered:
1. Why were three separate criminal charges laid? The reported court record identifies sexual assault, sexual interference involving a person under 14, and forcible confinement.
2. Why did the case remain before the courts for more than a year? The charges were reportedly sworn in November 2006 and stayed in February 2008.
3. What evidence supports Singh’s explanation? A court record confirming a stay of proceedings does not, by itself, establish that prosecutors concluded he had been falsely accused.
A stay of proceedings is not an acquittal or a finding of innocence. It can occur for several reasons, including insufficient evidence or a witness being unwilling to testify. The charges were never proven, and the reason for the stay cannot be determined from the court record alone.
Did the leadership of the Conservative Party of BC (Board of Directors, Officers, Senior Staff and Party Leader) know about these criminal charges before Singh became Vice-President of the party and was selected as a candidate? What vetting and background checks were conducted, and if the party was aware of the charges, when did it learn of them and how were they addressed?
BC Conservative Party members, constituents of Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream, and all British Columbians deserve facts, transparency and answers.

Yemenite Jewish children used to go out at night and mercilessly beat up dogs because Kabbalah deems them satanic and "impure". Today, Israeli children regularly burn dogs and cats during their traditional Lag BaOmer bonfires. Jewish religion is nothing like what you were taught.
On the Jewish Yemenite custom of "Yilbegu al-kilab" ("Beating the dogs")
From the 17th century onward, Yemenite Jewry was a stronghold of Jewish mysticism, deeply influenced by Kabbalah. In Kabbalistic thought, dogs are associated with demonic forces, Amalek, and impurity, a view that draws on negative portrayals of dogs in biblical and rabbinic literature but is developed much further in Kabbalah.
Thus, a known custom among Yemenite Jews in previous centuries, as part of the Chodesh HaSelichot ("Month of Repentance") rituals observed during Elul, was for children to go out into the streets at night, armed with sticks, and beat stray dogs as hard as they could.
Here's how the practice is described, rather apologetically, on the website of The Association for Society and Culture - Yemenite Jewish Heritage:
"A strange custom among Yemenite children was that, after reciting the confession prayer (Vidui) during the middle of the night watches, while it was still dark outside, they would leave the synagogue shouting "Yilbegu al-kilab" ("Beating the dogs"), each carrying a stick. It should be noted that in Yemen there were no domesticated dogs; almost all of them were strays, living wild throughout the city streets without any veterinary supervision. The boys would organize themselves into groups and, working as a team, lie in wait for packs of dogs before vigorously beating them. Surprisingly, the dogs seemed to sense this and disappeared from the streets, unlike their usual behavior. Needless to say, the adults would scold the children on the one hand, on the grounds of preventing animal cruelty, but on the other hand, they were exceedingly lenient toward them, remembering that they themselves had done the same in their childhood."

Women are actually correct (in a sense) when they claim that their public nudity is “for themselves” or that it’s “empowering.” They don’t engage in this behavior for men’s collective benefit. At its core, it’s a pretty obvious attempt to sieze unilateral control over social interactions between the sexes.
They want to inject your mind with sexual stimuli, and for you to learn that you can only react or form the next logical thought if they say so. There is no two-way street, being perceiving being; all perception and thought must be theirs; all agency, all happenings must flow from them alone. Men as agents must be extinguished, and sex / reproduction is the most viable route for women to accomplish this. It’s extremely logical, game theoretically speaking
I just don’t get why women are so dishonest. Like — just admit that you dress like that because you want people, especially men, to think that you’re hot. And by hot I mean sexually attractive. That’s why the shorts are short and tight and scrunch up around your butt to make your butt look bigger and rounder. Why? Because you think men like big round juicy butts. You wear low-cut tops because men find breasts attractive. Cut the bullshit that you do it just for you or that it’s more comfortable because you don’t and it’s not. Just freaking own it.
And if you are going to dress like that, don’t expect people not to look because that’s specifically why you chose the outfit you did. Furthermore, don’t get mad when people you don’t think are hot hit on you. You can’t have it both ways.
Aside from it being problematic for society and relationships between men and women, thing that frustrates me the most is the dishonesty in all of it. You know why you do it, we know why you do it. I am so tired of people expecting others not to be honest about things that are blatantly/obviously/objectively true.
