Now that Crowley won, let's revisit this Aug. 6 post because this is what happened last night. Polling had Hong up by ~20; her support was clearly much softer than polls saw. The Dem turnout machine is formidable and got people to show up for Crowley. Hong should have avoided the national media appearances because those revealed her weaknesses and reinforced fears that she was weak - so much so that she only turned in 44% in Dane County to Crowley's 37% and she lost Milwaukee County. State Navigate: 🔵 Hong +22 Public Policy Polling: 📷 Hong +18 Marquette University: 📷 Hong +29 Public Policy Polling: 📷 Hong +20
Is this the path to a Hong collapse on Aug. 11? 🔵Her backtracking on numerous past statements (particularly softening on police) may cost her the image of a truth-telling, unafraid progressive reformer and with it, part of her progressive base 🔵Wide publicity for some of her more wackadoo stuff, like wanting to abolish Thanksgiving, employing a porn star, and championing a "hooker's bill of rights" may turn off less extreme elements of her progressive base 🔵Those weird notes might also make her look clownish to some progressives, who strongly believe that neither party is being serious enough about serious problems and want to focus on economic issues 🔵TV appearances where the mask is off and her unpreparedness for the limelight do not help her with anyone and may further erode progressive faith that she is what she had been presenting 🔵Many early votes are locked in, but there is still a Dem turnout machine that will try to propel voters to the polls for Crowley. The fog of war prevents us from knowing exactly what's going on. ...We will see how durable her support is on August 11.

A great choice for @realDonaldTrump would be Anna Kelly. Few are faster on their feet, quick with the facts, hard working and could go toe-to-toe with any of the drive by journalists in the WH press corps.

Why would @realDonaldTrump bring on someone to be his admin's new face who was only at DHS for 3 months, lives in California, aligns with people who despise his COS, and is an acolyte of the failed former DHS Secretary whose incompetence dealt a huge blow to his approval? Seems like a bad hire if true. nypost.com/2026/10/09/us-new…

David Crowley is taking credit for "keeping" the Brewers here. Smart, trying to capitalize on the World Series. But allies of @TomTiffanyWI should remind voters - *especially* Madison progressives who hate billionaires - that what Crowley did was raise taxes on the poor and divert hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to the billionaire Brewers owners in a deal vastly more costly than Foxconn. Even baseball fans can see this was a Billionaire Baseball Bailout. @yount1130 @VickiMcKenna @BrianSchimming @DanODonnellShow @MarkBellingShow @JayWeber3 @JasonGoch @maciverwisc @WILawLiberty @ReformingGovt @badgerinstitute @HeartlandPostWI @wisconsin_now

For all the criticism we heap on @MSpicuzzaMJS and @MollyBeck, this is a very well-done story about @TomTiffanyWI. Sure, it's mostly a puff piece, but there is room for those, too. Their story has a lot of details about Tom's human side and life story that most people wouldn't know through the white noise of a red-hot campaign. jsonline.com/story/news/poli…

The @journalsentinel article focuses on the "cost" to the state over a decade of eliminating taxes on overtime and tips. The real story is that it would save many taxpayers a lot of money every year. It's crazy that anyone thinks a bloated, $115 billion-a-year gov't needs the money more than regular people. jsonline.com/story/news/poli…

$2.1 billion may sound like a lot, but it’s a fraction of the $46B GPR budget. If they’re in charge, expect Democrats to drive WI into a deficit and raid that fund rather quickly. Then leave a cost to continue mess for someone else.
Wisconsin also finshed '25-'26 with nearly $2.1 billion in the rainy day fund. @GovEvers: “This is damn good news, Wisconsin.”

The media in Wisconsin is largely horribly biased to the left. It is very hard for news stories that investigate liberals to get traction. Meanwhile, being a Democrat comms staffer is the easiest job in the world. There is a huge opportunity for a right-leaning news source that goes beyond a website--particular in TV. Meanwhile, there are several people with very deep pockets who donate a lot of money to Republican candidates in Wisconsin. For a fraction of that, those same people could buy a TV station and establish a news source that at minimum entertains criticism of leftist candidates and provides balance to the overall conversation in elections.

Armed federal officials are not going to show up at the polls in November. Stop watching MSNOW. If federal officials are present, it will be nothing new or scary. It is common and was most recently done when Biden was president.

Additions to the list of Crowley incompetence: ❌He was so AWOL that he jeopardized healthcare for all county workers by letting their contract expire ❌He gave the agency his wife works at $15 million; she started working there after he became County Exec ❌During his tenure, the MKE Social Development Commission has been yet another dumpster fire and has just $2,770 in cash left. Two board members resigned Tuesday and United Way and Milwaukee Area Labor Council pulled support.
Which is why @TomTiffanyWI and allies should be running ads in Milwaukee reminding Milwaukeeans why they shouldn't vote for Crowley: ❌He significantly raised their sales tax, hurting those least able to afford it ❌He increased property taxes year after year, driving people out of their homes ❌He is beholden to groups that want to eliminate School Choice so children would be forced into failing schools ❌He mismanaged the county's finances, running deficits even after raising taxes repeatedly ❌He is pushing a billion-dollar courthouse that would add to property tax hikes ❌He let problems at the jail spiral out of control, resulting in deaths and chaos ❌Under his watch, the county's paratransit system has been a debacle, hurting the most vulnerable who need transportation ❌He presided over budget debacles at the county transit system, resulting in service cuts that leaves people stranded ❌He presided over multiple years of record homicides and property theft, destroying the quality of life in the city. David Crowley has made Milwaukee worse for those who can afford it least. It will keep getting worse if he becomes governor.

What Wolfe and McDonell meant to say is that many Trump hating liberals in Madison have been led to believe that their ballot might not count if they vote by mail because the USPS will seize their ballots or something. Republicans shouldn't get too excited about the numbers out of Madison and Milwaukee. pro.stateaffairs.com/wi/pm-u…

@yount1130 It’s a little of both - lack of enthusiasm and a fair number who heard in their sewing circle or on MSDNC that Trump will intercept their ballot.

@yount1130 Living in Madison I have many liberal friends. This is what they all say. Worth noting from deep behind the lines.

This is a pretty good article at the @CapTimes, but one thing not mentioned is that @TomTiffanyWI would also enhance price transparency so providers and insurers have to do a better job of disclosing prices to patients before a procedure. That and pursuing anti-competitive practices by large health systems would help a lot to create competition and lower prices. captimes.com/news/health/her…

ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE! @badgerinstitute is pushing back on claim that they oppose @TomTiffanyWI's income tax comments. They are strongly in favor of significant tax reform done in a thoughtful, responsible way. @ReformingGovt has also pushed back, reminding people that eliminating the income tax isn't radical, it's extremely popular. 65% of independents and 64% of Democrats support eliminating the income tax. The @DemGovs @DanRShafer @milwcouriernews should keep pushing their message, but they may need to in-kind it to Tom's campaign. badgerinstitute.org/what-the…
Replying to @ConservativesWi
The groups mentioned should do press statements on the issue. @badgerinstitute @ReformingGovt Maybe add @maciverwisc @WILawLiberty
