Why are white, working class boys getting suspended from school more than their peers? I went on @GBNEWS this morning to discuss this complex issue with @toryboypierce and @miriam_cates

From my #GE24 campaign. I saw that a Labour government would punish aspiration through punitive taxation

There is so much wastage of public funds across our bloated state, yet the Labour government seeks ways to penalise the aspirational and hardworking through punitive taxation, in order to maintain that waste.

Politics often feels like there’s a mountain to climb so it was a joy to hike up a real mountain with the ever inspiring @GillianKeegan and @michaelkeegan14. The perfect day in the sun with wonderful friends ☀️⛰️

After very nearly five years as Association Chair for @ConservativeHSP I stood down from the Chair’s role last night.
It has been an absolute honour to lead our fantastic Association and I am very grateful for the support I have received and the friends I have made along the way. I wish the new HSPCA leadership team the very best as they take the Association forward from here.

Balancing the need to build more homes with the desire to protect green spaces is one of the conundrums of our time. So it was encouraging to hear common sense from @SirSimonClarke and @kevinhollinrake at the @ukonward YIMBY and @CFT_UK reception last night. Rebuilding the party, building our nation.
Thank you @RichCubitt for hosting

It may have fallen out of the news, but the Birmingham bin strikes continue and the row over Angela Rayner’s suspension from Unite serves to remind us. How awful for the residents of Birmingham, in this heat too.
🚨 BREAKING: Unite union suspends Rayner over bin strikes and could split from Labour

A year ago. Special times.
I’m Joanna Reeves, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Hackney South and Shoreditch.
This area is in my DNA and I feel like I am coming home. My Grandfather, his parents and siblings lived in one room in London Fields in the 1920s.
Creativity and technology have had a massive positive economic impact on the area and its people. I will work to ensure this continues. My Vision is to embrace these opportunities, for instance, with the use of AI to streamline services and local government. This area is a hotbed of creativity and entrepreneurship which I find exciting, countless examples of people fulfilling their potential and being unlimited. In order for democracy to work there has to be choice and hope. I thank you in advance for your kindness and for permitting me this opportunity to take part in the democratic process.
I feel blessed and grateful to be running in such as forward-thinking part of London.
Vote for me, Joanna Reeves,
if you share a vision of hope and opportunity.

"We’re getting more teachers into our classrooms"
Phillipson is just an outright liar - there are 400 fewer teachers than last year - DFE's own website says so!
It’s #ThankATeacherDay, an opportunity to recognise all our teachers do to give children growing up in our country the best start in life.
Through our Plan for Change, we’re getting more teachers into our classrooms. Every lesson shapes a life, so go to getintoteaching.education.go….

-He says "we're recruiting more teachers into schools"
-He said VAT would pay for more teachers in state schools
-But recently he said this money was going on housing instead
-And actually there are 400 fewer teachers under Labour
-Yet he just repeats the lie. Shameless!

A throwback to last year’s National Convention campaign. I was calling for the Party to support our council election campaigns as staunchly as our parliamentary campaigns and I’m sorry didn’t get the chance to take that to the Party Board as NC Chair.
Our Conservative councillors work so hard on local councils and our Associations work hard to support them. Local government plays a massive role in people’s lives. I aim to make sure that the party supports our campaigns for council seats just as strongly as for parliamentary seats.
Our country needs effective and efficient Conservative councillors and we need to win back seats, and councils, that we have lost in recent years. We urgently need to escape the status quo. We need a bold, fresh voice for members.
Vote for me, Joanna Reeves, as Chsir of the National Convention.

In January, Keir Starmer shamefully smeared people like me calling for an inquiry into the rape gang cover-up as ‘far right.’
Now, faced with the vote we scheduled next week in Parliament and an external report, Starmer has finally capitulated. Not because he wants to do the right thing - but because he’s been forced to.
Starmer must now apologise for needlessly keeping victims waiting another six months and apologise for smearing and insulting campaigners.
It is vital the inquiry has full statutory powers to compel the production of evidence, and looks at every aspect of the cover up.
Those in authority deliberately covered up the systematic rape of thousands of girls as young as 10 because the perpetrators were mainly of Pakistani origin. They thought race relations were
more important than protecting young girls.
The truth must now come out and people in positions of authority responsible for the cover up held to account. Those who who ignored or hid these crimes should go to prison for the offence of misconduct in public office.
The victims who have been so badly let down deserve this justice.

This is humiliating for Starmer.
He’s been forced to do the right thing by the review that he commissioned to avoid doing the right thing.
He put political convenience ahead of justice for the girls who were abused. He should hang his head in shame.
UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announces full national inquiry into grooming gangs bbc.in/4kZ9Xuk

If Baroness Casey is now calling for a national inquiry into grooming gangs, it proves what I’ve been saying all year: only a full statutory inquiry will expose the truth, bring justice for survivors, and stop this evil from happening again.
Yet every time we’ve called for action, Keir Starmer has said no. He’s put process over justice, legal caution over moral clarity. If Casey joins survivors and Conservatives in demanding an inquiry, the Prime Minister will have no excuse left.
Starmer must stop being a lawyer and start being a leader.

The National Convention officer elections have been announced, a good couple of months earlier than last year. When I stood for the NC Chairmanship last year, I realised that very few members understood what the NC is. Allow me to help: joannareeves.uk/what-is-the-…
I’m standing for Chair of the Conservative Party National Convention. But what is the National Convention, you ask. Well, it’s the organisation of the membership, aka the voluntary party. A bold, fresh voice is needed, and guess what: that’s what I’ve got

A billion a month on UC benefits for overseas nationals? This is mathematically unsustainable, even before you get on to considering whether it’s morally right or wrong. Bravo @NeilDotObrien for shining a light on this.

Future historians will struggle to explain how a democratic system could produce outcomes so at odds with what the electorate actually wanted.
