In addition to being an insane and clearly pretextual reason to fire someone, this does not inspire confidence about OpenAI having very basic, normal corporate good security practices like adjusting employee access when employees change roles.
Replying to @j_asminewang
OpenAI delegated that access to me for recruiting. When I no longer needed it, I asked IT to remove it. They did not action my request, I couldn't remove it myself, and the inbox was combined in an indistinguishable way in my phone’s mail app. When I opened a sensitive email by mistake, I told the executive within minutes and asked IT again. None of this was hidden.

Talarico v. Paxton is really the test of whether Blexas is possible. If, in Dems’ best environment in years, they cannot elect an above replacement Democrat over an abysmally far below replacement Republican, they simply cannot elect a Democrat over a Republican statewide.

It is so dark that this is the level of discourse in the OFFICIAL California voters guide

not to be flippant but I think that most of the people here saying Zohran committed *genocide* have severe personality disorders and it’s merely a result of circumstance that they’re here instead of storming the capitol on Jan 6th
Pro-Palestinian protesters gather outside City Hall to call out Mayor Zohran Mamdani for what they see as his betrayal of the movement. "Mayor Mamdani, you can't hide we charge you with genocide" was a chant that just rang out.

Really funny to see people who obviously have no familiarity with AI writing call anything competently written AI. See below: the post this guy is calling a “ChatGPT summary”
Replying to @TodAshby
kind of like what the jews did to Jesus. But thanks for that ChatGPT summary.

This, by the way, is what ChatGPT wrote when asked for a response to the same thing Tod is responding to. Notice, um, any stylistic differences?

I genuinely didn’t think it was possible to have customer service worse than American Airlines. But I suppose American’s business model doesn’t profit from deliberately causing customer service problems in the way Amazon’s does.

The decision to carry and raise a child can shape every part of a person’s financial life. @JessicaValenti joins Vox’s @AsteadWH to explain why abortion belongs in Democrats’ affordability message and what the party misses when it treats reproductive rights as a social issue.

I think probably 3 or 4, but if I God forbid went into a coma and woke up a week after Election Day and it was eight, I wouldn't be shocked, and if I went into a coma and woke up and it was one, I wouldn't be shocked. And a year from now everyone will act like it was *obvious*

And this time is not only the Midwest but also Alaska and Collins in Maine. A pollster's nightmare. Turns out Texas is the easiest race to poll :) Probably I'd bet on a 4 seats dem gain if forced to, but who knows.

AI standup comedians are universally terrible. It’s amazing how AI cannot be funny

…to- …to be clear, these memes were not sent by a Republican Congressman, nor by that Congressman’s comms director, but by people that the Congressman’s comms director shared a group chat with?
NEW: Republican Congressman Ryan Mackenzie’s comms director belonged to a college group chat where people joked about statutory rape, Asian children eating puppies, Black people not knowing their fathers, and Adolf Hitler achieving total extermination of the Jewish people.

What an amazing ability you have to instantly recognize birds! What does your Knowing say about: A dog, a moose, an aardvark, a boat, a parakeet, a raven, a second aardvark, a Tasmanian Devil, and a giant squid?

What an amazing ability you have to instantly recognize personhood, beyond all doubt and debate! What does your Knowing say about: A cat, a cow, a chicken, Opus 5.5, a fetus 2 weeks before birth, a fetus at 4 months, a dolphin, a gray parrot, and an adult chimpanzee?

Twitter is interesting because half the site thinks Trump is a jew slave and the other half thinks he’s the second coming of Hitler
It’s time to end this regime.

10-year-old me committed a cardinal sin of Americanism by studying for the spelling bee, apparently
“You don’t study for the spelling bee” is a deep and important aspect of American culture. I was at a baseball game discussing some young players with a buddy one time and he said to me offhandedly, “hard work is fine, but nothing beats talent.” Americans have this sort of sense that there’s something a little off about working really hard to get good at something that you’re not naturally good at. You’re never really going to be on the same level as the guy who has a natural talent. We have room in our hearts for scrappy little guys who work hard, but we are by default suspicious of grinders and strivers. If you were really meant to do it, then you’d be naturally good at it. You sign your kids up for little league, but you don’t take it too seriously unless they show remarkable early talent. Yes, this sounds sort of ridiculous if you take it too literally. No, nobody is saying that there’s any kind of practical test for this or that anybody should be excluded because we found out that they secretly studied too hard. But this is a part of American culture. And if you can’t understand it, then that just marks you out as foreign to that culture to an even greater degree.

Going to be honest here, why is someone I agree with talking to someone I disagree with?
Going to be honest here, why is a Catholic podcast giving a platform to guy who spends his entire career trying to prevent protestants from joining the church?

I was surprisingly far into this tweet before I realized it wasn't about the Vietnam War
Yes. People like to blame Kennedy (and should) by Johnson is pretty much a cartoon villain of the debacle. He *gleefully* set out to unmake the story laid out by Abrams, to torch every narrative line, characterization, and plot foundation.
