My response to the question "What harm do you think will be caused by extending the maturity to a year?" I consider the below response the tip of the ice burg, it is not exhaustive. I think it hits us (XBT Protocol) on literally every layer. On the social layer, it makes us seem immature and hasty. I think the sha256 core coin brigade that loves to troll will absolutely jump on this, but that isn't new. However, it gives them some really solid ammo. The BIGGER problem on the social/brand layer is, it is us NOT moving like a mature protocol/organization. It looks, silly and crude. If I didn't know you guys and wasn't already involved and I saw this happening? People message me all the time "can you list this coin? (pool/swap)" I would not even take a project seriously that has a one-year CoinBase maturity in place. Economically, there are so many ramifications. Miners who mine through that period or pick up toward the end of it will likely just dump. Anyone who got screwed now will never forget lol. They will stick around and remind everyone what happened a year from now too, I guarantee that. It just brands the whole thing as a risk now. Even after the period, who wants to be exposed to that level of volatility in protocol design? If executed, its something that can never be undone. It's a "temporary" measure that sets a precedent with a litany of economic outcomes and a stain that will follow the project literally forever. The cohort of community supporters will probably shrink cause this proposal doesn't have mass support. It is extremely controversial even within the community it seems. I have more to say cause the ripple effect is really deep but this is basically a X spaces discussion level at this point lol.
