‘THE OTHER SIDE’ (2024) - trailer below ⬇️
In relation to assisted dying, the only thing I will say is that choice is the keystone of dignity.
Concerns raised may be valid, but I will not be swayed from my belief that allowing the choice to not live out your days in agony is the very definition of empathy.
A Man on the Inside is just so damn good.
Ted Danson, a lifelong acting hero of mine, gives a career best performance and the always wonderful Susan Ruttan turns in a genuinely heartbreaking and delicate performance.
It was so very much more than I expected.
Don't get me wrong, this looks quite good.
BUT when we already have the brilliant animated movies, I just don't understand why this needs to exist.
Just watch the movies that are already there 🤷🏼
Back in 2008, James McMurtry released what I genuinely believe to be one of the best written songs of all time.
Ruby and Carlos is just a staggering piece of lyricism.

Can someone explain the popularity of Shein to me?
It surely can't be as simple as the fact that a huge number of people are incredibly stupid and/or willfully ignorant, can it?
I must be missing something......but it's difficult to see any other reason.
Somebody at work recently realised there is Italian in my family and joked that they hoped it wasn't Sicilian as they had insulted Italian food and didn't want to "offend the Sicilians *wink wink nudge nudge*" and like, it's only just occurred to me that was a tad racist 🙃
Testing positive for COVID and feeling like death, after finally being badgered into putting in some annual leave, is a very Christie thing to have happen......sigh
Interesting to note that the Venn diagram of people saying a pensioner with expensive things worked hard his whole life and shouldn't have to sell luxuries to live, and people who said young people could buy a house if they didn't eat avocados, is a whole ass circle.
So, Joker: Folie à Deux.
An extremely mixed bag of occasionally beautiful cinematography (Sher is the films biggest strength), a few great turns by actors in the smaller roles, and some wonderful lighting.
The bad, however, is...... well, it's everything else really 🙁
The noise that erupted from me at the chiropractor this morning can be described thusly;
- unacceptably loud
- utterly filthy
- absolutely mortifying for all involved
Just thought I'd share that with the internetwebs this lovely Sunday morning.
You're welcome.
I've been watching Peaky Blinders, and I've decided it would be approximately 25% better with fewer pointless slow-motion walking scenes and less time trying to make Tommy Shelby seem "cool".
A TV and film trope that I hate, an almost irrational amount, is the "every single person drinks vast quantities of neat whiskey constantly" trope.
It's incredibly lazy and almost always entirely unnecessary.
Is it just me? 🤣
