The polarization and extremism of modern culture has lulled people into a nightmare where everything is life or death. Extremism is its own kind of cancer and it is prevalent in politics, media, social media, relationship advice, and parts of personal development / spirituality
The sad yet hilarious part of this extremism is that you’re seen as complacent, complicit, or an idiot for NOT collapsing constantly into a hot mess of existential anxiety. How dare you stay calm in a time of chaos. Everyone should be losing it hysterically, right? 2/4

The difference between reading and active reading.
Although I don’t remember EVERYTHING I read in a book, not only highlighting, but note taking in the margins is HUGE for retention of material.

It’s hard to realize how little context we have for another’s experience.
We haven’t lived their life, haven’t had their experiences and often lack some of the foundational pieces to really understand where they’re coming from. 1/2
Most of us men are so outwardly focused in relationships that we miss out on who we ARE and what is being revealed within us.
We fixate on our partner or the relationship and say "if only I could solve (her, the relationship, the problem), then i'd be happy.... Bullshit.
A relationship is meant to teach YOU what you can tolerate. What you want. What you won't put up with and what you ultimately want to build.
When conflict arises, notice what is being revealed about YOU.
When disconnection arises, notice what is happening within YOU.
