Mortgage purchase applications are down 60% from their pandemic peak, per Redfin.
Demand is now back near 1995 levels, lower than at any point during the 2008–2012 housing crash.

This house in Central Florida is now listed for $40,000 less than what the owner paid in 2023.
And it's even listed below its 2017 sale price.
Meaning negative price appreciation over nearly a decade.
Just look at the HOA fees.
