YIMBYs when you tell them they can’t force people to build whatever they decree because the people whose houses burned down still own the land.

Then was outraged when activists brought an encampment to her own neighborhood

A difference between normal people and urbanists...
Normal people: "I don't want high density near me. Otherwise, I have no interest in how other people choose to live."
Urbanists: "I don't want low density *anywhere*. And I'll use the pejorative "sprawl" to describe it. And demonize people who disagree with me as NIMBY.

Joseph Pfeifer was the first NYC fire chief on scene at the World Trade Centers on 9/11.
On CNN two days ago, he made a point I'd never heard or read anyone make about 9/11:
The Towers had ~20,000 people in them when the planes hit.
'We lost 3,000 people at Ground Zero that day,' Pfeifer said.
'But we rescued something like 17,000 people before the Towers came down,' he said.
That's so amazing. Amid the confusion, the chaos, first responders and workers inside the World Trade Center got 85% of people to safety.
That's a fact worth knowing, too.

A Hero That Trusted His Intuition.
The problem wasn’t that Morgan Stanley didn’t believe him.
Rick Rescorla had already been right once. After the 1993 basement bombing of the World Trade Center, the firm’s security chief walked the towers, studied the site, and reached a conclusion most people preferred not to hear: the World Trade Center was still a target. Next time, he said, it would not be a truck. It would be an airplane.
An airplane. In a 1993 report.
Executives listened. Then they looked at the lease.
Morgan Stanley was the largest tenant in the complex—twenty-two floors of the South Tower, thousands of brokers, and a trading infrastructure that could not be packed into boxes and wheeled across the Hudson.
They literally made it a trading center.
The contract with the Port Authority ran until 2006. Walking away from premium Manhattan space of that scale would have meant penalties measured in the hundreds of millions, plus the operational chaos of relocating an entire downtown machine. So the company stayed.
Rescorla adjusted. If they could not leave the building, they would learn to escape it.
He built a protocol and treated it like doctrine. Unannounced drills. No exemptions. Brokers who billed by the minute were pulled off their desks and sent into the stairwells two by two, starting from the top floors, leaving a lane for firefighters coming the other way.
People complained. He did not care. Practice, he believed, was the only thing that would beat panic.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower. From the 44th floor of the South Tower, Rescorla could see the fire. Then the Port Authority came over the speakers: the South Tower was secure. Stay at your desks.
Rescorla grabbed a bullhorn and ignored them.
He started the drill his people already knew by heart. Floor by floor, two by two, down the stairs. He sang as he moved—Cornish songs from childhood, then “God Bless America”—keeping the line moving, refusing to let the stairwell become a stampede. Seventeen minutes later, the second plane struck the South Tower.
By then, most of Morgan Stanley was already on the way out.
Of the 2,687 employees in the building that morning, all but 13 survived.
It was stunning.
Rescorla could have been outside with them. He went back up instead. Colleagues told him to leave. He said he would, as soon as he was sure no one was left behind.
He was last seen around the 10th floor, heading higher.
The South Tower fell at 9:59 a.m. They never found him.
He was one of the 13.
He was a hero in every sense of the word.
Remember Rick Rescorla, he remembered for us.

I appreciate that Pratt voters are disgusted with our choices, I am too. But consider this:
An overvote is recorded as no vote. No one will know you did this on your ballot but you. It will be recorded as if you skipped the race on your ballot.
Personally I never recommend skipping a race. Consider these 3 points:
1. Low turnout in this race will favor Raman. That means overvoting or skipping is like voting for her.
2. If Bass wins re-election, we only have 4 years of her and she terms out. If Raman win, we could potentially have her for 8 years. That’s a long time.
3. Raman has the endorsements from the most far Left radical progressive orgs, who she will stack on staff and commissions in LA bureaucracy like Mamdani is doing.
The choice is very bad status quo vs. even worse.
And it can always get worse.
What if you're one of the thousands of Spencer Pratt voters who doesn't want to vote for Mayor Karen Bass or Nithya Raman?
Astute political observer and reporter @TheGussReport did the research and says there is another option — an intentional overvote.

"The public was going to vote on whether our project should be approved!"
Oh no, the horror. 🤡
“Sign here to reduce traffic,” is what the NIMBYs said.
They went door to door collecting signitures to overturn City Council approval on our 573 unit project in Burbank.
It took us 4 years to get approved.
And then…
Our first ever referendum!
The NIMBYs got the requisite 10% of the voter base to sign in order to qualify for the ballot.
The public was going to vote on whether our project should be approved!
But then… it was discovered that the NIMBYs didn’t attach critical pages from the Development Agreement to the signiture packets.
It was deceptive for the voters.
The referendum was thrown out!
Today we’re flying through lease-up,
And 1,000 people have a place to live.

In their own legislation, CA politicians celebrate how inflicting financial pain on commuters with higher gas prices leads to “historic increases in ridership on public transportation”. Screw their crocodile tears…they love high gas prices and they do all this stuff on purpose. We are just the mindless lab rats who keep paying into it.
This very odd bird who is now regulating what tires you can get in CA just gave away the whole scam. She cites high gas prices to justify it: "If we can bring down those costs even a little bit, why wouldn't we do it?"
Of course, no mention of reducing CA's self-imposed gas taxes that make our fuel costs 2X the national average. See the magic trick? They deliberately make your gas prices more expensive, to compel you to stop driving. Then they use the artificially high cost of fuel to impose further regulations and higher tire costs on you. The whole communist schtick is a positive feedback loop. It's the Arsonist-Firefighter Fallacy.
What's even more rich about this is that this is essentially an EV tax. EV ownership is skyrocketing, and what's their fatal flaw? They are VERY heavy vehicles, and they chew through tires like crazy. As the state has pushed more and more drivers into EVs, they're trying to find new ways to hurt drivers financially now that they're skipping out on the gas taxes. Devious, devious little commies.

Won't somebody please think of the poor developers and their profits. 🤡🤡🤡
San Francisco cut its affordable-housing requirement from 15% to 5% because the city's own controller found the old rate made most projects unprofitable to build at all — so developers built nothing.
