🚨NEWS: Ofwat has proposed penalty fines of £168m for three water companies.
These fines are the first in a series of crackdowns from Ofwat. Last year £1.4 BILLION went to share holders - a ban on dividends next?

Welcome to the new @uklabour govt and to @carladenyer who became one of 4 @thegreenparty MPs. Bristol you did it 🙌
Seeing #riverpollution so high on the agenda this #election has been a testament to campaigners across the UK, but a sad reminder of the state nature is in ❌
We look forward to working with elected councillors and MPs to:
💩End sewage pollution
💧Restore our rivers
🦦 Secure rights for rivers
We’ll be holding the incoming government to account on all things river - for people and the planet. Who is with us? ✊
#EndSewagePollution
Yesterday, Conham Bathing was featured in @thetimes as part of their ongoing feature on water quality in the run up to the national election! 🗳️ 🦦 thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…
Responding to the article, our founder @beccablease said “the prominence of river pollution in this election is bittersweet: a reminder of how bad things have become, but also a testament to the tenacity of campaigners across the country”

@Conham_bathing about bathing in our rivers & now workshop about what we can all do to improve our water quality.
The health of our rivers and seas are crucial, that’s why it’s a key @TheGreenParty manifesto pledge

🚨Sewage alerts currently suspended 🚨
Our current sewage alert system has not been accurate since early April, as Wessex Water is no longer sending us email alerts during CSO spills. We recognise that this is a hugely important resource for those of you who access the river
🌧️ Sewage spills are most likely to occur following rain (especially heavy), so we suggest waiting >48 hrs before going in the water as a precaution
🧼 If you do go in the water, bring sanitiser / a flask of warm soapy water to rinse your hands
🗣️ Keep your head above the water
Did you catch us on @BBCr4today this morning? Emma, Eva & Charlotte went for a bracing morning dip after collecting the second sample of the bathing season, “doing the EA’s and Wessex Water’s job for them”!
Be sure to follow our accounts to see the results 🔬
Great to hear @Conham_bathing on @BBCRadio4 this morning - campaigning for better water quality of our beautiful rivers, and taking a dip in one of my fave swim spots. Live water quality testing of the #RiverAvon #Wildswimming #Bristol conhambathing.co.uk/
The Conham Bathers extend a huge congratulations to all those who have worked to protect their wild waters, our voices are being heard! @BristolCouncil - are you taking note? 👀
📢🎉 Defra has announced 27 new bathing sites across England, which includes all of the communities that were supported via our Protecting Wild Waters campaign to achieve bathing water status 🎉📢
