Right now on @GBNEWS, an exclusive report of the ‘asylum seeker’ camps in France and the organised large scale enablement of trafficking those ‘migrants’ across the English Channel. This is also a key route for illegal immigration into Ireland (they go onto Northern Ireland and then cross the border). Hopefully the reports and footage from the camps will be made available on this platform. What is going on is a very serious security issue. Hopefully the TV news crew’s cameraman makes a full and fast recovery following the assault he endured.

President Trump says he wants to see Ireland become "one unified country."
Speaking alongside Taoiseach Micheál Martin in Dublin, Trump says he would "love" to see the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland reunite.

You disagree. This is an energy supply shock, not demand running hot.
Gas and oil are up because of the war and tariffs. That raises the cost of fuel and imported goods even if people are not spending more. A rate hike does not add oil supply and it does not undo tariffs.
Hiking rates only works by making borrowing cost more so people buy fewer houses, cars, and big-ticket items. That does not fix a shortage of energy. If you hike into this you can slow the rest of the economy while prices at the pump stay high.
A hike also takes a year or more to really hit the economy. Next week’s move will not lower gas this month or next. By the time it works, the shock may already be fading or growth may already be weaker.
You do not hike into a supply shock like this. The inflation you are talking about is not coming from too much demand, and the tool you want arrives too late and hits the wrong problem.
