Speaking at the Howard Pattee Centennial: Kalevi Kull is Professor of Biosemiotics at the University of Tartu and president of the International Society for Biosemiotic Studies. He became an admirer of Pattee after reading the volumes of Towards a Theoretical Biology. They began a correspondence in 1999, when Kull was editing a special issue of Semiotica on Jakob Uexküll. Kull met Pattee in 2008, and published part of their dialog as "A biosemiotic conversation: Between physics and semiotics," in Sign Systems Studies.

Speaking at the Howard Pattee Centennial: Claudia Carello is professor emerita at the Center for the Ecological Study of Perception and Action (CESPA) at the University of Connecticut and, briefly, was a faculty member at Binghamton University. A leader of the Ecological Psychology movement, she and her colleagues engaged with Howard Pattee over several decades, and CESPA devoted one of its annual Iberall Lectures to Pattee. His important "Cell Psychology" paper was a response to the Ecological Psychologists.

Speaking at the Howard Pattee Centennial: Joanna Rączaszek-Leonardi is a Professor at the University of Warsaw, where she works in the Human Interactivity and Language Lab (@uw_hill). With Pattee, she co-edited Laws, Language, and Life, the main book-length entry point into Pattee's work. She has continued to develop Patteean themes in her own research, especially complementarity and replicable constraints in language and cognition.
