Where in the US is new #solar generating capacity being built? How big is a new #windfarm compared to a new #natural gas power plant? Our #visualization has answers to these and other questions about what's happening in the #electricpower sector.
Excited to have Victor Seow come to my BC Energy History seminar class tomorrow and talk about coal, China, and the craft of writing. @EastAsiaSciTech

Early this morning (about 4 AM local time), a M4.0 occurred near Chandler, OK. The light shaking was widely felt across both OKC and Edmond. It occurred adjacent to several injection wells that have been injecting and lower volumes in recent years (1/n)

EVERY SINGLE SAMPLE we took in Antarctica as part of our microplastic research contained plastic microfibres.
I found plastic from tourists in the penguin colonies.
We even found a big piece of plastic on the seabed.

Have you heard of China-based CATL and wondered just how big a player it is in the battery world?
This great thread puts CATL's scale in context, along with lots of other useful analysis of the battery sector.

A bill worth serious consideration given the new report from IPCC ☀️👇🔥
@JBoylan4RI has introduced a bill that would require most new construction in the state to include solar panels as part of the initial construction.
“Every time a new building is built without solar panels, I see it as a missed opportunity. With energy costs going up and the clock ticking on preventing the worst impacts of climate change, we need to get moving,” said Rep. Boylan. “We build new houses and schools and then a few years later we think to put solar panels on them. Homeowners, taxpayers and our environment would all benefit from doing things right the first time.”

Sister Rosetta Tharpe is credited as the Godmother of Rock ‘N’ Roll. Before Elvis, Johnny Cash or Little Richard, there was Sister Tharpe- A Black woman who forged her own sound in a male dominated industry.
She does not get the credit she deserves. #BlackHistoryMonth
