"I'm playing terribly," I told my Zen master. "I'm not going to win." "This too shall pass," he replied. That night I won the tournament and raced to tell him, "Thank you for your advice. I cannot tell you how happy I am right now." The master smiled. "This too shall pass."

"Why did they stop cheering for me the moment I reached the top?" I asked the master. He nodded. "Your fans loved the part of you they saw in themselves," the master replied. "They've been underdogs their whole life; they simply cannot imagine themselves as champions."

Ok, so Waffle House is a 24 hour diner in the US. Mostly in the south east.
They are known for a few things:
Being open, no matter what. So much so the the US government unofficially uses Waffle Houses in disaster stricken areas to quickly assess how bad the disaster is. Things like a hurricane: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffle…
Because they are a reliable, generally inexpensive diner with pretty good food, people are there at all hours. The crowd coming in after the bar is close at around 2:00-3:00 a.m. are known for being rather rowdy...
They have a way of ordering hash browns that is unique to them. So that's part of the whole vibe.
It is will known that the staff are not to be messed with. They are there to do a job, and tend to be pretty relaxed and fun. But they will fight you if you start a physical fight. Don't start none, won't be none.
They have a jukebox with a bunch of waffle themed takes on popular songs: wafflehouse.com/music/
For these reasons Waffle House is known as a place with good diner food, fair pricing, basically always open (unless an actual, legitimate disaster is on going. Even then, they are working hard to get back up and running), with the occasional brawl.
It's the most American diner.

A panda, not knowing how to swim, asked a group of fishermen to transport him across the river. "Do we look like fools?" asked one man. "Our boat is made of bamboo. Surely you will eat it." "Be reasonable,” the panda replied. "If I ate your boat, we would all die." (1/2)
