The best way to say goodbye to classic Ruby on Rails and welcome the new era is to meet @dhh in person, and say thank you for what he has gifted to the world.
I’ve built many projects with Ruby on Rails over the past 18 years, and was lucky enough to have 2 of them acquired. It was the agility and simplicity of Rails, and its huge community behind, that made it possible for us to pivot quickly and search for PMF.
Now DHH’s new adventure is Omarchy. As a Linux veteran with a long history of ricing, I was initially skeptical about it. But now I get it. Omarchy is not just an OS; it’s a philosophy, a movement. A manifestation of an old notion that a lot of well-made things embody: the creator making choices, being opinionated, putting their taste into the work.
And what’s even better is that, with AI agents, users can be that creator. You can make the system yours. This is not only for the wizards who speak code. It’s also making this possible for any creative person.
I’m traveling right now, and I left my ~20-yo ThinkPad T61 at home. Tried to install Omarchy on it last Nov, but it didn’t go smoothly because of graphics issues. But I’ve heard a lot of effort has been put into making Omarchy work on old hardware. Can’t wait to test the newer version on it. And more broadly, can’t wait to see how this movement goes.

没想到疯狂星期四已经从良渚的星星之火烧到了北京和深圳。这周在良渚的疯狂星期四比我前年去参加少了几分媒体的热闹，多了分手艺人们的平淡。这大概才是常态。我更喜欢这种氛围，大家毫无保留地分享，互相鼓励、夸赞，诚恳提出挑战的建设性意见。
过去一年多，我参加了好些纽约当地的线下meetup，但是总体来说我还没有遇到过像疯狂星期四这样的活动——一种以工作为主、社交为辅的松散集会。也许是我搜寻的方式不对，以至于我参加的很多线下活动的交流比较浅表，或者说参与者都非常谨慎、有所保留。朋友说湾区的交流会好很多。我很欣慰纽约有比以前更多的技术/创业类的线下活动了，但更羡慕良渚的氛围。也许回去后我该传播一下这火种。

Codex’s 5x plan only lasts me about 2-3 days, so I’m considering trying out new providers like Grok or Cursor. I’ve heard good things about them lately. Should I get the Grok plan or the Cursor plan? Their pricing models are a bit confusing.
Ah, no wonder my 5x pro quota can hold for only one day, I was following @thsottiaux’s advice using low and medium for the last 2 resets.
