I’m always asked how I can be a gay republican. A lot of gay republicans get this question and respond with wanting a strong economy, low taxes, or secure border. But that’s entirely missing the point of their question. They do not care about our policy positions. When people ask how we can be gay and republican, they’re asking how we can be gay and support a party that still has in its coalition people that openly do not want us and do not think we deserve rights. My response: that’s exactly why you should want me to be a gay republican! If you truly believed every election determined if our rights were on the line, that there was a 50/50 chance in any given election that you would be free or not free (newsflash they aren’t, but that’s a different conversation), you are simply not going to solve that by hoping Democrats win every time. America is an evenly split country. The parties will alternate power. There will never be a universe where Democrats or Republicans are in power forever. You should WANT the GOP to change its views. That only happens if gay people start making their presence known INSIDE the party. And you know what? We are! 60% of republicans support gay marriage and gay adoption. The GOP removed anti-gay language from its platform. The first gay cabinet member was a republican. The Supreme Court decision protecting you from getting fired for being gay was written by a republican-appointed Justice. That didn’t just happen out of nowhere. There are thousands of gay republicans working in government, the party, media, and social media doing hard work changing the GOP with little recognition and being berated as traitors the entire time. So if it’s so confusing how I can be gay and republican, it’s not because you’re concerned for gay rights, its because you’re a democrat. And that’s TOTALLY FINE. You’re allowed to be a democrat if you have liberal views. But you do not get to say you’re the only one cares about gay rights.

Do these people hear themselves? “I quite explicitly am saying I don’t want any Indians in America and brown people can’t be republicans.” Indian Republican guy: “Okay, I’m not gonna vote republican anymore.” “Wow, just proving your disloyalty.”

Tangent: I think an under-discussed reason why Jan. 6 is still brought up is because it really is the only major instance of rioting coming from the Right. For conservatives, it negated a talking point against the Left, and for liberals, it’s the only thing they can point to.
Why don’t right-wing people ever loot random businesses or burn cars down to the ground? What about destroying historical architecture? Why is this exclusively left-wing?

Endorsements may still not mean anything, but I do think this is a big deal. What a lot of national observers fail to understand about Texas is that although we are a red state, we have never been a particularly MAGA state. A very large portion of the state is still classical Chamber of Commerce conservatives. They could’ve very easily defected this cycle. That they’re not should say something.
NEW — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Ken Paxton in Texas’ Senate race, per Bloomberg.

You ever noticed how we almost never see the right protest like this? One of the reasons why January 6 is such a common Democrat talking point is because it’s one of the few times they can point to the right engaging in a non-peaceful protest. We get at least three or four of these a year from the left. We get one from the right maybe one every decade.

Love that someone defaced a Greg Abbott campaign sign with “Elect A Idiot.” Bodied. They sure got us.

This would be a horrible lineup. An expanded playoff is made worse by still seeding it with the last-team-in going up against the first-team-in without a bye. The difference is not as bad when it’s the 5th ranked team versus the 12th ranked team. It’s just stupid to pit the 24th team against the 9th team. Saying “oh but more teams have a chance” doesn’t mean much when they all get blown out in the first round. It actually would be much more fascinating to watch an SMU or Wake Forest, who’ve had tremendous strides in building their programs in the last few years, face off in a great bowl game (which would also be killed off by expansion) than have them do this.
Here is what the 24-team College Football Playoff bracket would look like right now, with seeding based on the current AP Top 25 Poll on3.com/news/24-team-college…

Absolutely not. He is the archetype Austin, Texas liberal who likes to cosplay the boots, the breakfast tacos, the Whataburger…then goes to other liberals and says “I’m sorry for my state”
This is getting ahead of ourselves, but yes IF Talarico is in the Senate see him operating like Lloyd Bentsen -- a loyal party soldier when he has to be with a real conservative independent streak on oil and blue slips for the federal bench in TX. -OS

Hey @tedcruz @SenatorCantwell add an amendment to stop this. That will actually save college sports more than anything.
NEW: The College Football Playoff is nearing a deal to expand to 24 teams, ESPN reports. The new format will start in 2027.

This new argument of “omg it’s is so rare, why is the Right making such a big deal about it?” is particularly grating because: 1. They’re the ones who made it a big deal 2. They’re the side that screams No Justice, No Peace. They’re only saying it now because they know they’re losing on it. There’s no other issue where they’d accept this line of defense.
I debated feminism with a women’s rights activist who refused to say what a woman is. Can you guess her response? Shoutout @mattwalshblog for the question to end all questions

What is the solution for this? Is there previous cases where citizenship is revoked over proven fraud? I don’t want to get my hopes up because both sides do this tactic of overblowing details that end up being innocuous, but I’ve yet to see anyone present this any other way.
This really is - even vs Trump and Biden's antics - zany third world bullshite. This woman married her own (gay?) brother as part of an immigration fraud scam, which has been low-key known about since decade-old revelations on Somali Spot (sue me if you deny this). She now denies exactly knowing her birth-date. No real punch line here. What a rude house-guest.

We went to a golf course in Vegas during my BIL’s bachelor party, I convinced him to buy a golf polo with a bunch of tigers on it. When my sister saw it she said, “That looks like something a gay Hispanic would get.” Little did she know…
Jacob Tierney talks about Connor Storrie loving Ilya Rozanov’s Jean Paul Gaultier shirt to Harper’s Bazaar. “People talk about that tiger shirt. I hated that thing, and I know that it’s Gaultier. They were like, "It costs the amount of a car,” and I was like, "Okay. I think it's still a stupid tiger shirt.” But what I love is how much Connor loves it, and how confident he feels in it, and how much Hanna [Puley, costume designer] loved it. And I was like, "Great, then wear it!” 🔗 harpersbazaar.com/culture/ar…
