Now reading this new suggestive book by @TK_Sakurai on Erich Fromm's theory of fascism. As Sakurai explains, for Fromm, individuals with evident sadistic and masochistic inclinations tend to show a "propensity toward authoritarianism."
The editor of CPT @TK_Sakurai has published an introductory book about Erich Fromm in the new Routledge series "Political Theorists beyond the Canon", of which he serves as co-editor.

Political theory investigates the ocean flows of politics. What are these flows? How do you discover them? These are the questions I address in my new book on teaching political theory.
